Darlene Cvancara
September 23, 1930 - February 19, 2022

Place of Birth: Stanley, North Dakota
Residence: Stanley, North Dakota
Age: 91

Darlene Yvonne Cvancara 91, of Stanley, ND passed away on Saturday, February 19,2022 at the Mountrail Bethel Home in Stanley, ND.

Darlene was born on September 23, 1930, the third of seven children, to Maurice and Maidie (Tossett) Rosencrans in Stanley, North Dakota. She lived on the farm south of Blaisdell until 1942 when their family moved to a farm nine miles south of Powers Lake, North Dakota. She attended school in Powers Lake and graduated in 1948.

She was united in marriage to Frankie Cvancara on February 5, 1949. She would tell the story of Frankie and her driving to Stanley to get their marriage license and get married at the courthouse, but when they arrived back in Ross, North Dakota they realized they’d picked up the marriage license but forgotten to get married. The couple then had to turn around and drive back to Stanley to get married. Frankie and Darlene moved to the Cvancara farm south of Ross where they helped Frankie’s parents farm and ranch. They eventually took over the farm. Frankie passed away on January 28, 1986, and Darlene remained on the farm for a couple of years before moving to Stanley.

Darlene was a very generous lady with a heart of gold, a witty smile, and a dry sense of humor. She donated to many organizations in Stanley and the surrounding area. She was especially proud of her donations to the Stanley Fire Department, Stanley Dollars for Scholars, and the Rosen Place.

Darlene is survived by her sisters-in-law, Laura Jean Rosencrans of Tioga, ND, Carol Rosencrans of Hettinger, ND, and Connie Rosencrans of Powers Lake, ND; and many nieces and nephews.

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, June Gamble and Connie Seaver; brothers, Larry, Bill, Jack, and Richard; brothers-in-law, Archie Gamble and Don Seaver.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Ross, North Dakota, Stanley Fire Department, or the organization of your choice.

The family would like to express special thanks to the Mountrail County Bethel Home nurses and staff for the excellent care Darlene received.

Darlene was a very kind and caring person. Would often visit her and Frankie with my Grandma Cora. I remember they used to walk to visit each other on a trail over what we called the ridge. I remember one time when Darlene came over and I had to take her home in the grain truck. I think she was a little apprehensive as I was probably about 14 and didn't have my license yet. Well she got in the truck and we started to drive. About half a mile down the road smoke started filling the cab. I had forgotten to take off the parking brake. The look on her face was priceless. We had it home and she always remembered that trip. RIP Darlene...

When Darlene lived in the house. She would walk to get the mail and she'd stop at my house to take a little rest. Her chats always put a smile on my face. Then she moved into the assistant living housing and my grandma lived there to. You'd here Julie get down here I need you to do something. I really enjoyed Darlene. She knew how to make my day. I know she'd say something to me and all I could do was smile at her. Then she'd look up and smile back. I want you to know that she is still there. Bossing us around and making us smile. She will be greatly missed.
