Alice Alexander, 95 of Williston, ND, passed away on Friday, October 23, 2026 at the Sidney Health Extended Care in Sidney, Montana.
Alice Mae Huntley was born May 25, 1931 to Lester (Doc) and Geneva (Bobbi) Huntley in Williston, ND.
Alice (Lolla Mae) was baptized and confirmed at the 1st Lutheran Church in Williston. Lolla Mae was a nickname given to her by her siblings because they could not pronounce Alice Mae. She was schooled in Williston and graduated in 1949 from WHS. While in high school she worked at the Grand Theatre for the Snyders. She also did some modeling for Joseph’s Ready Wear while in high school. After graduation Lolla Mae worked for W.S. Davidson at American State Bank in Williston, he often referred to her as his right hand. She was asked to take dictation for Mr. Davidson in shorthand while the call came into the bank that oil had been discovered in Tioga on April 4, 1951. She took pride in sharing this memory.
Lolla Mae married Robert (Bob) Joyce from Tioga in November 17, 1951. She immediately adapted to being a farm wife in Tioga. She was occasionally asked to drive farm equipment and would then prepare a seven course meal for Bob and his hired help. Her meals were the best and much appreciated with such perfection, while delivered and served on an ironed tablecloth on the tailgate of the pickup! While living in Tioga they welcomed three children – Carolyn in 1953, Dawn 1954 and Scott in 1960. Bob died on March 16, 1967 from cancer.
Lolla Mae then married Curtis Alexander on June 28, 1968. They lived in Williston but she still was very busy helping on the farm and raising her children. In 1977 they built a home in Springbrook, ND. She carried on her tradition of perfectly prepared meals delivered to the field. Lolla Mae enjoyed walking many miles around Springbrook accompanied by Scott’s dog Festus. On her walks she would take note of the beautiful crocus and prairie roses and greatly enjoyed the songs of the meadowlarks. Curtis passed away October 24, 2008 and Lolla Mae moved into the Briarwood in Williston that same year. While living at Briarwood she was blessed with the companionship of her dear friend Aveard “AC” Fjelstad. They enjoyed dancing at the Moose Lodge, traveling, bowling and walking together. Lolla Mae never let her head hit the pillow until she had her 5 mile- a-day walk in! In October of 2022, she moved to The Lodge in Sidney, MT. She enjoyed residing at the Lodge and of course continued her daily walks. In December 2022 she moved to the Sidney Extended Care Unit where she developed many friendships with the staff at the Center.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Darryl) Whitecloud, Dawn (Leon) Helstad and Scott (Joan) Alexander; seven grandchildren, Daphne (Cody) Heid, Carole Bingeman, Kass (Tyler) Sorenson, Ashley Alexander, Austin Alexander, Brooke (Jeremy) Paulson, Summer (Jeff) Walters; twelve great- grandchildren, Joycee and Jettler Jacobsen, Graadin Barkie, Huntley, Emery, Soren and Lola Sorenson, Jernie Heid, Rylan and Bexlee Paulson, Saige Meyer and Piper Walters.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Charlotte McEvers, Avis Holcomb, Dona Joy Johnson; brothers, Herb, Monie, Lester Douglas, Jr. as a young child.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to the staff at the Sidney Extended Care Center for the care and love they showed Mom.
