Hilda M. Reck, 96 of Sidney, formerly Savage, MT, passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026, at the Sidney Health Center, Sidney, MT with her family at her side.

Hilda Mae Odenbach Scheetz Reck

Hilda Mae Odenbach was born on May 6, 1930 to Albert and Martha Odenbach in Bonesteel SD. She went to be with Jesus on September 7, 2026.

Hilda’s family moved to St. Charles SD where she started school. They moved to Naper NE when she was in third grade for a year then on to Sidney MT when she was 10 years old. Hilda graduated high school in 1948. In November 1948 she was united in marriage to Herman Scheetz. To this union four children were born, Dennis, Rickie, Patti, and Sherry.

The family moved around for awhile but came back to Sidney. Hilda began working at Safeway first as clerk and soon into the bakery department as a baker. After Safeway closed she went to work with the Sidney school system hot lunch program. She started as the baker and later the manager head cook. She finally retired in 1990.

Herman and Hilda wintered in Yuma AZ until his death in 1998. She went on to marry Harold Reck in June of 1999. Hilda and Harold continued to winter in Yuma for a few years until health made them decide to stay in Savage MT. Harold passed away in June of 2025.

Hilda is survived by son Rickie (Cheryl) Scheetz, Havre MT, Patti Cummins, Fairview MT, and Sherry (Scott) Lessman, Sidney MT and Stepson Ted Reck. One brother-Gary (Joanne) Odenbach, Billings MT. Brother-in-law Don Reck. She was blessed with 8 grandchildren, 8 great grands, and 1 great-great grand! She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were husbands Herman Scheetz and Harold Reck. Son - Dennis Scheetz, son-in-law Bryan Cummins, siblings Florence (Glenn) Davis, Leon (Laura) Odenbach, & Leonard (Jean) Odenbach, & Loretta (Arthur) Damm. Sister-in-law Alvina (Edward) Lorenz. Parents Albert and Martha Odenbach and in-laws Alex and Mary Ann Scheetz.
