Jerry M. Grev, 81, of Williston, North Dakota, passed away on August 31, 2026 in Fargo, North Dakota.

Jerry was born on October 20, 1944, to Henry and Signe (Erlandsen) Grev in Williston, North Dakota. Jerry graduated from Grenora High School and went on to attend NDSCS in Wahpeton, completing a civil engineering degree. He then attended Mayville State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in science. He would go on to earn a master’s degree in mathematics from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, where he taught for one year following graduation.

Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara (Guerin) Grev, on March 7, 1970 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota. After traveling the country, they returned to Williston in 1973, where they lived for over 50 years. Jerry was a successful landman turned businessman, but he never truly retired. He could always be found on his computer researching and figuring out the latest information.

Those who knew Jerry would likely recognize the seeming contradictions in him. He was brilliant without being boastful, principled without being rigid, and endlessly forward-thinking despite a knowledge of history that could have filled another Library of Congress. He was a free spirit with deep roots in his family and community. His absence will be felt as much as it will be seen.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Signe Grev; his sister, Elaine (Grev) Sinness; granddaughter, Faith Hurkes; and nephew, Jesse Nelson.

Jerry is survived by his wife, Barb; his four children, Heather Sletmoen (Chad), Gerianne Williams, Jessica Hurkes (Jesse), and Samuel Grev (Crystal); fourteen grandchildren, Alyssa (Tanner), Jerica (Andrew), Markus, Jocelyn, Emme, Elijah, Liam, Caleb, Noah, Jonah, Ezekiel, Evelyn, Malory, and Hannah; seven great-grandchildren, Isla, Kaysea, Cleo, Sage, Beckham, Ivy, and Remi; brother, Stan Grev (Nina); brother-in-law, Steven Sinness; niece and nephew, Stephanie Blomseth and Loye Sinness; and great niece and nephew, Sven and Evie Blomseth.
