Verdean Roloff, 67, passed away at the Tioga Medical Center, surrounded by family on August 19, 2026.

He was born in Powers Lake, ND to Curtis and Verena (Shefstad) Roloff on August 9, 1959, joining his four siblings in McGregor. He began his education at the McGregor school until grade 5 when the school closed, and he continued in Tioga where he graduated with the class of '77. He then completed his degree in diesel mechanics from Williston State College. Verdean was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church of McGregor, ND.

In 1997, he met his future wife, Terry. They were married on December 27, 1999. In this marriage he gained two daughters, Crissy Syverson and Melissa (Jerry) Ralph. He was a grandpa to nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was also Uncle Dean to many nieces and nephews.

Verdean was a jack of all trades. He was the owner of the Sportsman's Club in McGregor for 40 years. In addition to being a businessman he was a mechanic, custom combiner, truck driver, hot shot owner/operator, and worked at the Coteau Mine--just to name a few. He also served on the Williams County Water Board and the Sauk Valley Township Board.

Verdean was an avid hunter and fisherman. Hunting travels took him to many places, with the highlight being a trip to South Africa with Tom and Linda Aisenbrey in 2008.

He is also survived by his sisters, Carol (Jack) Gossman, Connie (Rod) Brumlow, sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Roloff, Patty (Dean) Hersel and stepmother-in-law, Jane Tackett.

He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Cleone Thorvilson, Wilmer Roloff, and Nolan Shefstad; mother-in-law, Bonnie Scott; father-in-law, James Tackett; grandson, Carson O'Cain; niece, Jacqueline Gossman; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
