It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Roger Allen Deines on July 2nd, 2026 at the Tioga Medical Center at the age of 73.
He was born to Albert and Freida (Walter) Deines on May 20th, 1953 in Scottsbluff, NE. On November 14th, 2003 he was united in marriage to Denise Skarphol.
Roger spent many years as a dedicated truck driver for Northern Improvement Co. in Dickinson, ND hauling asphalt, taking pride in his work and the miles he traveled. He was a true jokester who never missed an opportunity to try to make someone smile. Whether it was a quick-witted remark, a playful prank, or a story, he had a special gift for bringing joy and laughter to everyone around.
Roger found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, where he enjoyed the peace of the water and the thrill of a good catch. He also enjoyed relaxing in front of the television watching his favorite shows. Roger was also well known for his legendary homemade BBQ sauce, a recipe that became a favorite among family and friends.
More than anything, Roger will be remembered for the love he shared, the laughter he inspired, and the countless moments that made those around him feel at ease. His humor and generous spirit leave behind a legacy that will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; special aunt, Esther Weinmaster; sister-in-law, Theresa Deines; and father-in-law Dean Knudsvig.
Roger is survived by his wife Denise; his children, Jason Deines and Lynell Sutter; stepchildren, Ryan Skarphol and Diandra Kallberg; grandchildren, Madalyn Deines, Jadelyn, Kosmos, and Renati Sutter, Janie and Lucy Skarphol, Kadence, Kutler, and Kendal Kallberg; brother, Leroy Deines; special nephew, Jesse Deines; mother-in-law, Lois Knudsvig; and sister and brother-in-law, Darnell and Bob Tangsrud.
Though Roger is no longer with us, his jokes will still be retold, his BBQ sauce will always be remembered, and his love will continue to surround those he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. 10-4, good buddy. Until we meet again.
