Eugene "Gene" Loy
Gene passed away peacefully on the night of June 26, 2026, at 00:20 at Sidney Health Center Extended Care, of natural causes, with his son Travis by his side.
Gene was born in Caldwell, ID, on January 5, 1948, to Lawrence Loy and Birtha Jean.
Gene married Roberta Lee MacGrady in 1975. In this union, they had two sons, Travis Eugene Loy, born September 30, 1982, and Justin Levi Loy, now Justin Richard Schumacker, born May 9, 1985, because he was adopted. Gene had his boys for the first six years of their lives, then both boys were taken by the state and placed in state care. At the age of 18, Travis was the only son who came back into Gene's life and was in his life until his passing. Gene spent 20 years as a seismographer. Gene was a member of the Carpenters Church for many years until he wasn't physically able to attend anymore; he was faithful to his church and his Lord, Jesus Christ. He would spend many hours reading his Bible and highlighting verses. Gene loved NASCAR; his favorite driver was Jeff Gordon until he retired. Then he became a Kyle Busch fan after Jeff Gordon retired. He also loved watching baseball and calling his son Travis to annoy him, telling him what the weather was doing every day. His son misses those calls now that he is not getting them from him anymore. Gene is preceded in death by both of his parents and Roberta Lee MacGrady. Gene's survivors are his 2 sons, Travis Eugene Loy and Justin Levi "Richard" Loy "Schumacker."
