Noreen Kay Wollan, beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Noreen was born on March 17, 1954, to Norman and Madeline (Calkins) Aagvik. She grew up in Watford City, North Dakota, and spent her childhood on the family farm. She attended elementary school at Wilcox Country School. After the school had shut down, she transferred to Watford City public schools. Noreen married Cornell Wollan while in her teen years. She left school to get married to Cornell and raise her two children, Darnell and Bradley.

Noreen was known for her kind heart, friendly spirit, and ability to make others feel welcome. During her teenage years, she was a free spirit who enjoyed spending time with friends and embracing life’s adventures. Later in life, she went back to school to receive her GED. She attended a college in New Town and received her LPN certificate from Minot State University. She and Cornell decided to separate after 27 years of marriage.

Noreen dedicated much of her life to caring for others. Her professional experiences included working as a candy striper, bus driver, EMT, nurse’s aide, LPN in hospital and clinical settings, and a surgical nurse. She was well liked by those who knew her and carried her warmth and compassion throughout her life.

Family was the center of Noreen’s world. She found her greatest joy in attending the activities and events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Whether it was a school program, sporting event, concert, or special milestone, Noreen was always there cheering. She was truly her family’s biggest cheerleader.

Noreen loved making memories with those she loved. She especially enjoyed traveling with family and friends, often seeking destinations much warmer than North Dakota. Some of her happiest moments were spent at the lake, relaxing and enjoying time with loved ones. Her beloved dog, Lil Bit, held a special place in her heart and brought her great joy throughout the years.

At home, she could often be found reading a good book or watching her favorite television shows and movies.

A faithful member of her community, Noreen was active in Ladies’ Aid and was known for her generosity and caring nature. She had a big heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. She also enjoyed supporting local businesses and giving back to her community whenever she could. Her kindness touched many lives, often in ways that will never be fully known.

Noreen will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering support, contagious smile, and deep devotion to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched, and the countless memories shared by those who loved her.

Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will remain with them forever.

Noreen is survived by her mother, Madeline(Calkins-Aagvik) Miller; her beloved companion, Lil Bit; her daughter, Darnell Wollan; her son, Bradley (Cindy) Wollan; her grandchildren, Briana (Lance) Roehrich, Nikita Wollan, Dakota Wollan (Fiancé Anna Allen), and Mason Wollan; her great-grandchildren, Qui’Anna Wollan, Quincy Richardson, and Colter Wollan; as well as many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Norman Aagvik; her stepfather, Charles Miller; and other beloved members of her family.
