It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Patricia "Pat" A Boyer Sather
October 11, 1941 - April 12, 2026

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 84

Patricia Ann Sather, born Patricia Ann Boyer, 84, passed away on April 12, 2026, after a life lived with warmth, laughter, and an open door for anyone who needed a place to sit and talk.

Born in Sidney, Montana on October 11, 1941, to Francis and Rose (Sticka) Boyer, Pat grew up in Savage, Montana, where her youth was spent on the Lalonde Ranch. She attended Savage High School, married Frank McRae, and dove headfirst into family life, raising children with the same grit and warmth she’d grown up with on the plains of eastern Montana.

Pat later married Tom Sather and together they built a life and a home. She wore many hats over the years: a CNA at the local nursing home in her earlier years; a waitress at the Triangle restaurant; co-owner of the Stockman Bar, where she was never short of conversation; an employee at Advanced Communications until her retirement; and a dedicated worker at the local hospital, where she served with the same quiet care she brought to everything she did.

At home, Pat was in her element. Her coffee pot was always on, and her door was always open. If you stopped by, you’d better have time to visit, because Pat could talk. She had a passion for gardening, a weakness for collecting just about anything that caught her eye, and a deep love of travel. She made it to Hawaii to visit her grandson who was stationed there, and wasn’t about to leave without doing a little hula dancing. Las Vegas was another favorite destination, though when asked what she got up to there, she had a simple answer: “What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”

Pat was no stranger to hardship. In 2012, she survived a serious car accident that left her with severe injuries and sent her through months of intensive recovery, from the ICU to physical therapy, fighting her way back to walking. What made her determination all the more remarkable was that her husband Tom was battling stage IV cancer at the same time. She refused to give up, recovered fully, and was by his side caring for him until he passed in January 2014. She came through it all the way she came through most things: with toughness, devotion, and a quiet strength that those who loved her had always known was there.

In 2024, Pat moved to Sidney Health Care Extended Care, where she resided until her passing, surrounded by the care of those who knew her.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Rose Boyer; her husband, Tom Sather; her son, Jim McRae; her daughter-in-law, Brenda McRae; her son-in-law, Kurt Olson; her brother, Charles Boyer; her brother-in-law, Jerry Holmes; and her nieces, Rachel Badt and Amy Boyer.
She is survived by her children, Francis McRae (Terri), Gene McRae, Thomas Sather (Jason), and Collette McRae Olson; her siblings, Idelle Holmes, Clydette Boyer, Jim Boyer, Ron Boyer, and Bruce Boyer; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Patricia Sather leaves behind a family that spans generations, a community that knew her laugh, and a coffee pot that was never empty for long.
