It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Larry Joseph Dewhirst
April 12, 1948 - March 9, 2026

Place of Birth: Williston, North Dakota
Residence: Commerce City, CO formerly of Watford City, ND
Age: 78

An exemplary father, brother, husband, and friend, Larry Joseph Dewhirst, found eternal rest on March 9, 2026.

Larry was born on April 12, 1948, and grew up on a farm near Grassy Butte, ND, alongside his brothers Gary, Lynn, and Loren. He attended Watford City High School, graduated from NDSU in 1971, and went on to build a rewarding career in banking. As a loan officer at Farm Credit Services, he helped local farmers and ranchers access crucial funding. He went on to be named vice president of the Independent Community Banks of North Dakota and president of First International Bank and Trust in Williston. Larry also served as president of the Mercy Hospital Foundation and chair of the Fort Union Association and Williston Area Economic Development.

However, his proudest achievement in life was his family, and he raised his children, Chad (Jenny), Janell (Ben), and Nathan (Heather), with steadfast devotion alongside his wife Patricia. Larry is also survived by four grandchildren whom he cherished, Brandon (31), Zach (22), Caden (10), and Caitlin (3).

In all things, Larry acted with kindness, humor, and generosity. His quick wit and characteristic warmth were his trademarks, and beloved by anyone who had the privilege of crossing his path. He found purpose in lending a hand to anyone in need, working hard, and bringing joy to others.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Winifred Dewhirst, and passed away surrounded by loved ones in Colorado.
Thank You
Larry's family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Greenridge Place Memory Care for the compassionate care they provided to Larry during his time there. Your kindness, patience, and dedication meant so much to him and to his family.

The family is deeply grateful for the comfort, dignity, and support you showed Larry each day. Knowing he was surrounded by such caring staff brought them great peace.

With great sadness we morn the passing of our dear friend Larry! Our memory and our appreciation of Larry is vast. How do you share the deep feelings we have for such a friend as Larry and for his Family? His honesty and his trust was off the chart. His career as a bank official was most valuable to many countless people. We lost a very honorable pillar and will need to look far and wide to find a person at his level! We pray for comfort to his family at this time.
