Eddie Max Chacon was born on September 6, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, to Joe and Bertha Chacon.
He was a happy child and loved playing sports. He was good at everything he did, but his favorites were baseball and wrestling, and he even became the champion wrestler in New Mexico at one point in high school. He was often caught skipping school to ski all day at Purgatory Ski Resort. He was very active!
In 1984, Eddie’s first baby was born, followed by four more. He also took on many other children who looked up to him in a fatherly way. He loved kids, and they loved him! His grandchildren held a special spot in his heart, and he liked to save all his change so when he visited them, he could throw it up in the air and watch them all scramble for it.
Eddie had many jobs throughout his life, including pipe x-raying, pipeline work, drilling rig work, air swabbing, casing crew work, and working with Brooks Kieson on building barns & rodeo arenas. He was also good at all carpentry work and at skirting & siding trailer houses, but his favorite work was flooring and roofing. His dream was to own his own company, with his sons working alongside him. He ended up working for Knights Construction as one of the main hands and loved all the guys he worked with.
Eddie lived in the Farmington, New Mexico area for most of his life, with the last 14 years being spent in North Dakota. He loved New Mexico but said he loved the cooler winter weather that North Dakota had to offer. In 2014, he met the love of his life, Ashley. They spent many years together before getting married in October of 2025; they have had one child together.
Eddie had gotten sick around December 2025 with multiple issues, but ultimately passed away from a stroke with his mother and wife by his side.
Eddie is survived by his wife, Ashley Chacon of Watford City, ND; his children, Scotti Chacon of Watford City, ND; Kaidence Grammond of Watford City, ND; Daniel Chacon (Shae Davis), their 6 children of Farmington, NM; Gabriel Chacon, his 2 children of Phoenix, AZ; Russell Smith, his 2 children of Aztec, NM; Alec Chacon, his 5 children of Farmington, NM; Stevie Jaramillo, her 2 children of Farmington, NM; his mother, Bertha Chacon of Aztec, NM; his father, Joe Chacon of Farmington, NM; his brothers, Manuel (Kimberly) Chacon of Houston, TX; Mark Chacon of Farmington, NM; Larry Chacon of Farmington, NM; along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins.
Eddie was preceded in death by his grandparents and great-grandparents.
He would want you all to know that he loved you very much, and he wouldn’t want you to be sad. He often said he wanted a party and not a funeral!
“Bye, I’ll never forget you!"
