It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Bryan John Dunbar
March 7, 1951 - February 23, 2026

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Cartwright, North Dakota
Age: 74

Bryan Dunbar, 74, of Cartwright, ND, passed away on February 23, 2026, at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings, MT, with his family by his side.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 AM MST on June 6th at the Nameless Cemetery located 4.2 miles east of Cartwright, ND, with Larry Willitte officiating. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be moved to the Cartwright Community Center. Following the interment, family and friends are invited to gather at the Community Center for a luncheon, fellowship, and the sharing of stories.

A 1969 graduate of Fairview High School, Bryan attended UND Williston (1969-1970) before answering the call to serve. He served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1974 as a Cryptographic Machine Operator.

Bryan’s character was forged in his early years on Math and Ann Koch’s ranch, working alongside his best friend, Myron Koch. He carried that work ethic into a lifelong career as a heavy equipment operator and truck driver. He spent most of his professional life with Oakland Fisher Construction and W.L. Neu Construction, retiring from W.L. Neu after decades of dedicated service alongside Wayne and Mark Neu.

Bryan was rarely still. When construction slowed, he enjoyed helping Dale and Lee Tjelde on their farm. During the winters, he hauled cattle and commodities for Lone Ranger Trucking, working for dear family friends Mike and Sylvia Osterman.

Bryan’s greatest joy was his family. He and his wife, Vicki, were true partners in adventure, traveling the world and following the rodeo circuit across the country. He especially cherished their time in Florida with Scott’s family, where he found great peace in the beauty of the Gulf.

Bryan is survived by his beloved wife, Vicki Dunbar of Cartwright, ND, his sons, Scott Dunbar and his children Olivia and Wyatt of Lynn Haven, FL and Jon Dunbar (Aimee) of East Fairview ND and their children Tilden, Ava, Belle (Jake), Hallie (Colton & Aylah) and Luke (Faith).
