It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Janet M Miller
August 28, 1945 - January 14, 2026

Place of Birth: Anaconda, Montana
Residence: Fairview, Montana
Age: 80

Janet M. Miller, age 80, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 14th, 2026, at the Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT with family by her side.

Janet was born August 28, 1945, in Anaconda, MT, to parents Ralph and Helen (Poland) Johnson.

Janet was united in marriage to Melvin Miller on April 5th, 1975, in Sidney, MT.
Janet was a loving and fiercely devoted “mama bear” whose strength and protectiveness knew no bounds. Her family came first, and she stood by those she loved with unwavering loyalty and courage. Intelligent and sharp-witted, she had a presence that was both comforting and formidable.

Throughout her life, Janet built a diverse and admirable career. She worked as a dental assistant and pathology technician, roles that reflected her precision, intelligence, and care for others. She later served as an office manager for an orthopedic practice, where her organization and leadership were deeply valued as well as lifelong friendships. One of Janet’s favorite jobs was her work as a bus driver. A job she approached with responsibility and pride, always putting the safety and well-being of others first. One of her bus students that has a special connection with her, made a point to visit her and loaned us a piece of art to hang on mom’s wall to remind her of her childhood where she was raised in the mountains.

An avid animal lover, Janet found joy in caring for and rescuing strays and treasured the companionship they brought. We used to joke that the word was out in the animal kingdom that if they came to her house they would be welcomed in. She lived life with passion and adventure, especially through her love of motorcycles and snowmobile racing- interests that reflected her fearless spirit and zest for life. Janet was also an excellent cook, known for meals that brought people together and made everyone feel at home. (just never ask her to bake anything, LOL)

Janet will be remembered for her strength, warmth and deep love she shared so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of resilience, devotion, and unforgettable memories, like the 3 am tea parties with the grand kids, that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Janet’s legacy will be carried on by her daughters, Marilyn Usselman of Fairview MT, and Marsha (Doug) Kittleson of Fairview, MT. Grandchildren, Chase Usselman, Vanessa (Justin) Fortin, Dak Hurley, Alex (Cade) Strasheim, Joren (Aspen) Kittleson, Jared Kittleson; Great grandchildren, Brooklyn Leen, Sophie Fortin, Payten Hurley, Tylar Hurley, Freya Strasheim, Blake Lyle, Weston, Waylon and Mattie Kittleson.

She is survived by her brothers, Ray (Norrie) Johnson and David (Marilyn) Johnson. Sister-in-law Lynne Miller, Brother-in-law Robert (Penny) Ernster, numerous nieces and nephews. Her grand pups, Stryder, Scooty, Izzy, and Bella.

Preceding Janet in death is her husband, Melvin; parents Ralph and Helen; brother, Robert and sister-in-law Shirley; numerous brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

To Jan's Family. I worked for Dr. Cooper for several years at the clinic and became friendly with Jan when she worked for Dr. Ben Youssef. I really enjoyed her company and we had many interesting conversations over those years. I hope she enjoyed her retirement years and the extra time to enjoy the company of her loved ones. My sympathy to all of you.
