Larraine M Baumann
December 29, 1925 - October 23, 2025

Place of Birth: Dodge, ND
Residence: Sidney, MT
Age: 99

Larraine M Ziegler Baumann passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Sidney Health Center Extended Care in Sidney, Montana, at just shy of 100 years old.

She was born on December 29, 1925, to Wilhelmina (Renner) and Jacob Ziegler in Dodge, North Dakota. Larraine was raised on the farm and attended rural school through eighth grade. Her parents wanted her to stay home after eighth grade, but she eventually won the battle with her parents over going to high school in Golden Valley, North Dakota and living in an apartment with local girls. Upon graduation she taught for several years in rural schools nearby.

Larraine married the brother of one of her roommates, Paul Baumann, in 1946 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sidney, Montana. To this union Ronald, Deborah, and Jeffrey were born. In 1953, the Baumanns left the family farm in North Dakota and moved permanently to Sidney.

A great seamstress and knitter, Larraine crocheted many a doily and afghan and was a fantastic cook and baker. She kept an immaculate house that was always ready to have someone over for coffee and goodies.

After all her children flew the nest, Larraine worked for Carol’s Gift Shop and later was a seamstress at Modern Lady. She enjoyed her time getting out of the house. After retiring, Larraine would go out to coffee every morning and even most afternoons with friends new and old. She loved their visits and has missed them dearly. Larraine and Paul also spent many winters in Arizona in their RV. She was a devout Christian and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since moving to Sidney.

Larraine was able to live at home taking care of the house and her flowers until she and Paul moved into the Lodge in Sidney in the summer of 2024.

Larraine is survived by her husband of 79 years, Paul Baumann; children Debbie (Jeff) Harper and Jeff (Lori) Baumann; eight grandchildren Christopher Baumann, Brian (Alex) Baumann, Nicole (Ruben) Garcia, Troy (Taylor) Harper, Todd (Katie) Harper, Rachelle Baumann, Michael (Michelle) Baumann, and Joel Baumann; nine great-grandchildren Zeke Baumann, Chloe Baumann, Zach Baumann, Jeremiah Abbott (Makenzie Kuckolls), Cameron (Lauren) Harper, Sophie Harper (Dylan Todd) Ava Harper, Chloe Baumann, and Gavin Baumann; one great-great-granddaughter Wren Abbot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents Wilhelmina and Jacob; son Ron; brothers Fred, Jacob, and Oscar; and sisters Elizabeth, Lydia, Minnie, Lenora, and Esther.

She was a pretty special lady & Paul was her total world - she was quiet but would tell you her opinions if you insisted - May your memories get through the rough times
