It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Marie Ann Pierce
April 9, 1947 - September 9, 2025

Place of Birth: Battle Creek, MI
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 78

Marie Ann Pierce (Loughman), 78, of Sidney, Montana went to sleep for the last time on Monday, September 8, 2025, early in the morning with her husband of 58 years by her side in Wibaux, Montana.

Marie was born on April 9, 1947, in Battle Creek, Michigan to parents Bernita (Carpenter) and Albert Loughman. She joined an older brother Tom, and soon younger siblings Alice and Albert completed the family. In high school, Marie met the love of her life, Eddie Pierce, in the summer of 1962. The Pierce family immediately embraced her.

Marie graduated from high school in 1967 and went on to nursing school, receiving her LPN in 1968. She and Ed married that same year in Battle Creek, Michigan before moving to Loma Linda, California. While in California, Ed went to medical school. Marie worked as a nurse and also had two kids (yes, Marie supported the whole family while Ed learned to be a doctor!).

In 1973, the family moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota. During this time, Marie showed just what a daredevil she was. She would try anything once. She could waterski, downhill ski, shoot a gun, and back up a trailer – but not all at the same time, of course.

The summer of 1987 was when the Pierces settled in Sidney, Montana. Ed started his own medical practice and Marie ran the office (and Ed). She eventually retired and became a lady of “leisure,” which she very much enjoyed after so many years of work, parenting, and marriage.

Once Ed finally joined her in retirement in 2016, they celebrated by driving to Chicago, getting on Route 66, and leisurely traversing the expansive highway all the way to California, stopping at each and every place that drew their interest.

Marie was a friend to everyone she met, and an avid reader of romance novels. Marie seemed to be one of the few of her generation who embraced technology. She always wanted the newest cell phone or iPad and genuinely enjoyed learning how to use each new item. Talking on the phone with all of her friends scattered around the country was definitely a daily pastime. Once she and Ed were blessed with grandchildren, they quickly became Ed and Marie’s whole world.
Marie is lovingly remembered by her husband Edward L. Pierce, children Jim Pierce and Christy Pierce, grandchildren Aidan and Madison Pierce, favorite grand-dog Pete, in-laws Sally (Jim) Pierce and their daughter Catlin, and Richard Pierce, and many other beloved family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, parents-in-law, and other favorite grand-dog Charlie.
