Mitchell "Mic" Bures
October 18, 1949 - July 28, 2025

Place of Birth: Stanley, North Dakota
Residence: Bismarck, North Dakota (formerly of Ross, North Dakota)
Age: 75

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mitchell K. Bures, 75, of Bismarck, ND (formerly of Ross, ND), on July 28, 2025, at the Hay Creek Lodge Senior Living Center in Bismarck, ND.

Mitchell was born on October 18, 1949, to Mary and Leonard Bures. A lifelong farmer, Mitchell was dedicated to the land, spending his entire life maintaining and caring for the farm. He had a deep passion for operating combines and a wide range of other heavy machinery, which he used to harvest a variety of crops. Mitchell took immense pride in the precision and skill required to manage such equipment, often working long hours to ensure that the harvest was timely and bountiful. Mitchell found joy in the simple pleasures of life, particularly fishing on his boat, camping, and spending time with his family. A devoted Catholic, he was a regular attendee at church services, where he found comfort and community.

He graduated from Stanley High School in 1967 and attended Williston College for one year in 1968. Mitchell proudly served in the U.S. Army North Dakota National Guard from August 28, 1969, to August 28, 1975, as a forklift and load operator with the rank of Specialist 5.

On April 11, 1987, Mitchell married the love of his life, Doris, and together they built a beautiful life and family.

Mitchell is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Gary (Mary Jo) Putman, Renae Weatherspoon, Steve (Cathy) Putman, and Mike (Cheryl) Putman; sister, Loni Willis; nieces and nephews, Brandi (Jason) Stensos, Brian (Audra) Willis, and Corey (Ashley) Willis; grandchildren, Katie (Jorrie) Brettin, Nathan Weatherspoon, Jayden Frey, Josh (Courtney) Weatherspoon, Dylan (Rebekah) Putman, Dustin Putman, Alana Putman, Mike Putman, and Michelle (Zach) Siverson; and great-grandchildren, Maeve and Hank Brettin, and Louise Weatherspoon; great nieces and nephews, Sloan, Neve, and Ashton Stensos, Asher and Rowan Willis, and Zoe Kuyath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Leonard Bures; Son, Randy Putman; and Brother, Leonard Dale.

My condolences to the family. I remember the day Mic and Doris were married. Such a great couple. I have fond memories of flipping quarters every morning with Mic and the bus drivers at the Coop to see who would buy pop! A great guy!

My sincere sympathy to Micky's family. He was so kind to my parents always bringing the Ross Farmers elevator calendar and a poinsettia plant for Christmas. Grew up in Ross always thinking of Micky as Loni's big brother. May wonderful memories help comfort you all.

Deepest condolences to Doris, Loni, and their families. Sorry I was not able to attend the funeral. Mickey and his Dad farmed next to my family's farm for many years. His parents and my parents were best friends.

To the Bures Family my sincerest of condolences in hearing of your loss. I remember Mic well, and I remember him doing the Santa Claus for my children back when I lived in Ross in the late '80's. God Bless and Godspeed.
