Arvine Olson
February 21, 1935 - July 3, 2025

Place of Birth: Nelson County, North Dakota
Residence: Williston, North Dakota
Age: 90

Arvine Elwood Olson was born in Nelson County on the family homestead on February 21, 1935 to Johnnie and Emma Olson.

In Arvine’s early years, he worked on the farm helping with field work and chores, even driving tractor at age 8. Arvine finished the 8th grade in school and at the age of 15, he decided his calling was in the oilfield, although he always told us about when he worked in the bakery making doughnuts and pies. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

In 1950, Arvine moved to Williston. He eventually met Marion and they were married on August 16, 1957 and spent 62 years together. They were blessed with 2 girls, Kimberly and Jan.

He worked roughnecking for several years and moved onto working at Homco Oil Company and became the manager until he and his friend, Mike Sack started their own fishing tool company in Tioga, ND. At the age of 41, he was blessed and able to retire. He kept busy with woodworking and refinishing furniture for many people.

Arvine loved camping, fishing and hunting with his sons-in-law, Stewart and Tom. Many trips were made to Tobin Lake in Canada. He also enjoyed researching family history going to several family reunions and a memorable trip to Norway as well as spending many winters in Arizona. Arvine took great pleasure being at the lake cabins with his family. He also loved watching his grand children and great-grandchildren through the years and was their chief and Ho Ho.

He was a lifetime Moose member, also involved in the Sons of Norway and Woodworkers Club.

Arvine leaves behind his 2 daughters, Kim (Stewart) Boston, Jan (Tom) Winzenburg; grandchildren, Ryan (Kari) Boston, Reo (Sarah) Boston, Jessica (Kris) Redka, Zach (Liz) Winzenburg; great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Jaxson, Thea, Ava, Adam, Elliot, Olive, Max, Piper; sisters, Marcia (Jake) Stokke, Linda Sturgeon; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Maxine Nelson; brothers-in-law, Allen Sutton, Duane Diedrich; his beloved dog, CoCo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, Marion of 62 years; brother, Buddy; sisters, Marion Sibley, Lorene Sutton; father and mother-in-law, Ed and Mabel Olson; and other in-laws.
Thank You
The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Dr. Mann and nursing staff for their compassion and excellent care given to Arvine during his stay at CHI Hospital.

I have known Arvine for many years and would always stop to visit when I was in Williston and of course to drop off some Headcheese which he loved. Arvine was one of those special people that no onKim e will ever forget. He cherished his children and his grandchildren. Arvine will be dearly missed. Our prayers go to Kim and Jan and there families. When you lose someone you love, you will never get over it, but we pray that you get through it. It will never be the same without Arvine.
