Judene "Judy" Cvancara
July 2, 1943 - February 3, 2025

Place of Birth: Minot, North Dakota
Residence: Ross, North Dakota
Age: 81

Judene Annette (Judy) Cvancara, 81, passed away peacefully at the Mountrail County Medical Center in Stanley, North Dakota the morning of Monday, February 3, 2025. All of her children had traveled back to see her. We all left, but not before her asking how the roads were, and she wanted to know when we arrived back home. Sunday night the nurse told her everyone ‘s home, and Mom left for her Heavenly home shortly after.

Judy was born July 2, 1943, to Andy and Myrtle (Lindahl) Moore. She was the oldest of 5 children raised on the Kyloe Ranch in Blaisdell, North Dakota. Her childhood was spent riding horse (Frisco), barrel racing, and timing events at the Blaisdell Rodeo. She attended school in Blaisdell and Stanley where she graduated in 1961. Judy met Jack Cvancara in September of her Senior year at a dance at Poncho’s in White Earth, North Dakota. They married May 31,1961 5 days after graduation. The couple had celebrated 63 years of marriage before Jack passed on June 2, 2024.

They purchased a farm south of Ross, North Dakota where they raised their 5 children. Judy loved everything rodeo. Her and Billy Fox won the hide race on the 4th of July races in Stanley, (who knew??). She was employed as a school bus driver, worked at the Sheriff’s office, ASC office, she was a crop adjustor, and Notary Public for over 20 years. Judy also drove truck for the county, but her time at the Social Services office working as an eligibility worker was her most memorable. She enjoyed her monthly meet ups with the ladies for lunch. Besides timing for rodeo events for many years she was on the Board of Trustees for The North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame. Judy was also a member of Queen of The Most Holy Catholic Church, The Tuesday 12 Homemakers Club, and The Swing and Twirl Square Dance Club. Together Judy and Jack also founded The Angel Fund, which they created to help pay for school lunches in the Stanley School District.

Judy and Jack went on a family cruise to Alaska in 2015. She enjoyed zip lining so much she wanted to know when she could do it again. She loved a good family reunion, Fox News, scrolling Facebook, giving advice whether it was wanted or not, coffee with friends, a Long Island Tea (the food was boxed, the bill was paid, the car was started and she was still sipping). She loved the yearly Medora get together when she would come to watch family members run the Maah Daah Hey races only to miss them at the finish line because she was eating breakfast at the Cowboy Cafe. Her greatest joy came simply with being with family. Judy’s saddest day was losing Kip; it left a hole in her heart that has never closed. We will miss Mom so much but know the best Family Reunion has just taken place.

Judy is survived by her children; Jana Cvancara-Olson (Barry) of West Fargo ND, and their family: Alex (Morgan) Olson and August of San Diego, CA, and Kyle Olson of West Fargo, ND; Jaci Nichols (Robby) of Stanley, ND and their family: Drew (Kelsea) Nichols and their children, Abel, Layla, and Jax of Stanley, ND, Landon Nichols and his family, Asher, Swayzi and Suede of Watford City, ND, Whitney (Chris) Nordloef and their children, Kiplee, Koier, Kuf, Kaper, and Kue of Stanley, ND; Rowdy Cvancara (Melanie) of Sidney, MT and their family: Chase Cvancara and his family, Brantley and Brielle of West Fargo, ND, Malorie (Casey) Peterson and their family, Avalynn and Haisley of Sidney, MT; Jaret (Candy) Cvancara of Williston, ND and their family: Dawson Cvancara of Ray, ND, Payson Cvancara of Ray ND, Lindsay Falcon and her family; Sophia and Alex of Williston, ND, and Caitlin Falcon and her daughter Aniyah of Williston, ND; adopted son (without papers), Brian (Michele) Dolezal of Ross, ND; siblings, Dallas (Debi) Moore of Blaisdell, ND, Jane (Ted) Dobrovolny of Stanley, ND, Kelly Moore of Bismarck, ND, and Eileen (Lynn) Lindbo of Newburg, ND; adopted brother without papers, Conrad (Kaye) Smith of Ludlow, SD and their son, Tracy; in-laws, Dennis (Barb) Cvancara of Phoenix, AZ, Clark (Kathy) Cvancara of Cold Spring, MN, Marjorie Jaha, Eileen Cvancara of Chippewa Falls, WI, JoJo Cvancara of FL, and Jack’s cousin, Nancy Thronson of Stanley, ND; Judy is also survived by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, neighbors and friends.

To the Cvancara family, I was so saddened to hear of Judy's passing. The childhood memories of both your folks are just so fun to recall. As a child, I always thought your mom was so classy looking!
