Marian Albrecht
August 22, 1926 - January 19, 2025

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Sidney, MT
Age: 98

Marian Albrecht, 98, peacefully passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at her son’s home in Bandera, TX, with family by her side.

Marian Albrecht, born Marian Osborne, on August 22, 1926, was the first American born to parents, Samuel Osborne and Beryl Osborne after they immigrated from United Kingdom through Canada. The family of Marian with her parents, and two older siblings who were born in Canada eventually moved to Sidney, MT where all the children attended rural school and eventually transferring to Sidney High School.

Marian attended the Nursing Cadets program after graduation. She graduated from nursing school on September 30, 1947. During or after the nursing training process she trained in mental illness and also helped injured veterans. This is where she met Charles Albrecht, her future husband.

The two married on June 3, 1947. The marriage preceded the birth of their first son, Dennis in 1949 and the birth of their second, Gary in 1952. Over the years Marian and family lived in California, Chicago, and South Dakota for further nurses training and/or work prior to moving back to Sidney, MT.

Marian was a devoted nurse. She became one of the first female Nurse Anesthetist (CNRA) in the country. Marian worked as a CNRA in the Sidney Hospital system as well as traveling for surgeries in towns around the area for 45 years. Marian held the Sidney Hospital record for employment length for years after her retirement.

Outside of employed nursing, Marian spent time taking care of family ailments. She also loved gardening, bringing in a harvest of flowers, raspberries, tomatoes, and cucumbers every year. Marian, with or without her sister Eunice used to do sewing, painting, and other constructive projects. She was a lifelong member of the Lower Yellowstone VFW Post 4099 Auxiliary, where she spent hours cooking uncounted meals and arrangements for various gatherings. Marian was very self-sufficient up until mid-2024, she drove herself in her own car and, until November, lived, cooked, and fended for herself.

Marian is preceded in death by her parents Samuel and Irene; her husband Charles Albrecht; her siblings, Frank Osborn, Eunice Williams and infant brother Samuel; and her son Dennis Albrecht.

Marian is survived by her son Gary and his wife Vera as well as multiple grandchildren, Danny, David, and Gabriel Albrecht, and great-grandchildren, Dylan, Sterling, Gage, and Kal’el Albrecht.

Worked with Marion for years. She was dedicated beyond measure, and she was willing to teach us the tricks of the trade. I have been gone many years, and I hope the end of her life was good.

I remember Marian back in the day when she was a CRNA, always in her scrubs. She was always a very kind and professional gal. I had met her when I started at Community Memorial Hospital back in 1979 as a receptionist before moving to Insurance and lastly Medical Records before going to nursing school. She and so many others at the hospital were a big influence on my going and receiving my RN degree. My sincere condolences to her family, she was a great lady. Sincerely, Lisa Holst

Although I didn't have the honor of meeting Mrs. Albrecht, I have known her son Gary for over 30 years. He is a reflection of his mother who must of been a wonderful caring mom.
May she be at peace with Jesus in her final rest.
God Bless you Mrs. Albrecht.

I remember Marian from YEARS back. I can't remember which surgery it was, but Marian came into my room and assured me that everything would be alright. She gave me the anesthesia for surgery and all the while that she lived in Sidney, I made it a point to say 'HI' and visit--reminding her of how I knew her. She was always so very, very sweet and loving and enjoyed hearing my story each and every time I saw her. What a wonderful, wonderful life she had, and she is now resting with her Heavenly Father and enjoying her heavenly time. I'm sorry for all of you who lost your loved one--but please remember that her passing isn't to be grieved but rejoiced. Blessings, Sandi Angel (Beagle)

I will always have great memories of Marian as she helped me learn as a nurses' aide and I watched her manner of talking to patients and she explained some care to me. My memories after that all revolve around her great love of her family and making memories with each of them. I hope the happy memories with live with each family member and friend when they think of her.

Gary, Very sorrow to hear of your Mom's passing. Growing up with you explains why so many folks admired her. You are a reflection of your Mom and should be very proud. Just think of all her friends she is reuniting with now. Take care.

Marion was a very special lady to many. I knew her as Gary’s Mom ( whom was in my class at school)as my Aunt Ann Elletson’s neighbor, and as a wonderful nurse at Sidney Health Center. She was so dedicated to her work as a nurse I’m and a truly good friend to all who knew her. God bless her family as they cherish their memories.
