Bonnie Jean Hunts Along
October 18, 1959 - August 19, 2024

Place of Birth: Watford City, ND
Residence: Mandaree, ND
Age: 64

Bonnie Jean Hunts Along, 64, was born in Watford City on October 19, 1959, to Matthew Hunts Along, Sr. and Blanche (Wolf) Hunts Along. Her maternal grandparents were Pearl (Medicine Crow) and George Wolf, Sr., and paternal grandparents were May Hunts Along and John Sitting Crow, Sr. Bonnie was a member of the Dripping Dirt Clan and a child of the Knife Clan.

Bonnie was raised by her grandfather George Wolf, Sr. and her grandmother Margaret Wolf after the passing of her mother in 1968. When she wasn’t making bread or quilting with her grandma Margaret, she would be out riding horse or dirt bikes with her brothers. Bonnie also liked attending basketball games with her friends or just walking around Mandaree.

On September 22, 1984, Bonnie was blessed with her only daughter, Marissa Rae. Not long after she met her lifetime partner, Richard “Dicky” Grinnell (her “hunny buns”) and their son Levi was born on January 16, 1987. Bonnie was employed at the Four Bears Casino and Lodge for many years up until her health forced her to retire in 2001.

Throughout Bonnie’s life she was the family caretaker. She was very close to her grandfather, Warren Wolf, and cared for him until his death. She always took care of each and every one of her siblings until they left. She then cared for and had a special bond with all her nieces and nephews and grandchildren. Bonnie’s greatest joy in life was becoming a grandma. She loved and cherished all her grandchildren and held a special relationship with each one.

Bonnie was the last of the children from Matthew and Blanche. On August 19, 2024, she peacefully passed away surrounded by her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Bonnie is survived by her sister Julie (Wolf) Lincoln; daughter Marrissa Mason; son Levi Grinnell; grandchildren Quentin, Kelly, Kara, Kyrie, and Kezley Mason, Daysin and Adrianna and Maximus Grinnell; nieces Natalie, Blanche, Isabelle, Kassondra Hunts Along, and Courtney Beaks; nephews Edward, Johnathan and Jerome Hunts Along Jr., Jordan Jetty, Miles Beaks, Jacob, Samuel, and Charles Wagon; grandchildren Joel Jr., Natrace, Niyonna, and Jowan Red Fox, Pierston, Payton, Parker, Zavair Gisele, Ever, Kaydence, Emmie, and Ezra James Hunts Along, Dawson Feather, Terrell Diarra, Ameer and Qaiseer Sharrieff Albey, Priscilla and Navious Little Ghost, Lucy, Ryland, Jasmine, Aires, and Kimowahn Jetty, Noctus Beaks, Cole, Emberly, and Kaedyn Young Bear, Hunter Mason, Enavey, Avaya, Alikai, Ame, Eli, and Elizabelva Wagon; and great grandchild Geraldine “Fancy” Red Fox.
