It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Shary Kay Thiel
July 7, 1947 - August 6, 2024

Place of Birth: Sidney, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 77

Shary Thiel was born July 7, 1947, and died August 6, 2024, at the age of 77. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Thiel, her parents James and Frances Johnson, and her sister Carol Christianson of Sidney, MT.

She leaves behind a sister, Joy Folstad of Sidney, MT, and daughters Tina Young of Billings, MT., and Shelley Hickman of Coleman, TX. She had five grandchildren, Raeanne, Jordan and Sheridan Sturgis of Sidney, MT, Sarah Martin of Payetteville, ID, and Nathaniel Hickman of San Antonio, TX, along with four great granddaughters.

Shary was baptized and confirmed at Pella Lutheran Church in Sidney, MT, and gave her heart to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at Arlington Baptist Church in Arlington, TX on June 11, 1973.

Shary attended Sidney Senior High School, serving as the A.S.B. Representative for the Distributive Education Club, and graduated in 1965 a Jaycee Scholar. She began her service in the Air Force the following year. There she earned the title Might Mouse, a nickname used fondly by her loved ones for the rest of her days.

She raised her daughters in Sidney, MT, where she appreciated the simple, rural life the area affords.

Shary enjoyed many creative hobbies, including sewing, wood carving, photography and gardening. She would master a craft and then move on to the next, as her joy was found in the challenge.

Shary lived an honest, simple life. She wanted those she loved to have the best, while she was content with very little. Her counsel was valued by all who knew her, and she will forever be cherished and loved.

My heartfelt condolences go to Shary’s surviving sister Joy, to Shary’s daughters Tina and Shelley, to Shary’s grandchildren and her great grandchildren.
Shary and I met in 1961 when we were junior high school freshmen. We started dating in April of 1962. Shary quickly became my gal-pal, my first “Real” girlfriend, and a woman whose memory I will cherish forever.
After we graduated from Sidney Senior High School in 1965, Shary and I pursued different military branches. In 1975, Shary and I spent time together when we returned to Sidney for our Ten Year Class Reunion. That was the last time I say Joy and the first time I met Tina and Shelley. As years became decades, Shary and I visited via phone calls and during my sporadic visits to our Montana Homeland.
I promise to remember Shary with unconditional love.
If love is not forever, what is forever for?

Shelly and Tina,
So Sorry for your moms passing. She was a great lady. She always had a smile and a great greeting every time that you would see her. I have not seen her in a couple of years but thought of her often. God Bless you all at this time. RIP Dear Lady.

Oh no, the Class of 1965 has lost another classmate. I fondly remember how Shary always had a smile on her face and was very athletic. I am sorry for your loss, Joy, and offer sincere condolences to her girls.

To Shary’s family,
We were neighbors when we were very young and attended Newlon Country grade school until her family moved into Sidney. She was a very special person. RIP Shary,
