Gene Edward Grossnicklaus was born on October 15, 1950, the third of eight children born to Raymond and Leona Grossnicklaus in Shelby, Nebraska. When he was 15 years old, he met the love of his life, Mabel “Snookie” Brumbaugh. Gene graduated from Aquinas High School in 1969. Shortly after graduation Gene enlisted into the United States Army and was sent to Vietnam. He walked point in the jungle and was awarded a Purple Heart for being injured in combat.

Wade and Thea - my deepest condolences. What i will remember about your dad is how on more than one occasion he helped me with my blazer. Like after i was out splashing through puddles and got the distributor wet.

He just did his thing - no judgement; just help. I will remember him for his gentleness and his kindness.

I hope you both are well.
