Joyce M. Frank
November 2, 1932 - May 4, 2024

Place of Birth: Larson, North Dakota
Residence: Williston, North Dakota
Age: 91

Joyce Frank, 91, of Williston, ND passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the Bethel Lutheran Nursing and Rehabilitation Home in Williston, ND.

Joyce was born during a blizzard on November 2, 1932 on a farm near Larson, North Dakota, the youngest of nine children born to Nels and Thora Fagerbakke. She graduated from Columbus High School in 1950, and from Trinity Hospital School of Nursing in Minot in 1953. She met James (Jim) Frank on a blind date, and they married on December 4, 1954.

She worked as a registered nurse at Trinity Hospital until January of 1969, when the family relocated to Williston. Over the years, she cared for patients at Good Samaritan Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and Bethel Lutheran Home, eventually serving as Director of Nursing.

Her retirement years were spent doing the things she enjoyed most – embroidering, reading, doing puzzles, and learning how to use an iPad. Her travels were few, but very special, including a fall tour of New England states, a cruise to the Galapagos Islands, and a trip to Mackinac Island.

Joyce is survived by several people who loved her dearly. Her children include daughters, Lisa (Mark) Aamodt of Bismarck, ND, Terri (Jerry) Decker of Miles City, MT; son, Roger (Nina) of Austin, TX. She is also survived by grandchildren, Austin Decker, Marie Aamodt, Amy Giordano, Sara Aamodt, and Aidan Decker; great-grandchildren, Joyce, Joziah and Jory Soiseth, Jonas Giordano.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim in 2000; parents, Nels and Thora Fagerbakke; siblings, Marie Swanson, Bill Fagerbakke, Ken Martin, Swanhild Mihovich, Myrtle Rude, Anne Olson, Amy Beuchler, Norman Fagerbakke.

My deepest sympathy to Joyce's family. It is always tough to lose your mom. Joyce was a compassionate person and nurse. We were classmates at Trinity School of Nursing and our contacts at reunions, etc. were always a joy. I recently searched for her on the net since I did not hear from her at Christmas to no avail but then I noted her death notice in the Minot Daily. It seems like we always think there will be another day to find someone and catch up but such was not the case. I lost another TSN classmate in April. Lisa, you may remember your mom talking about Dee Schoff. Two in les than a month is two too many. I have passed the news on to several classmates and I plan to watch the service when it becomes available. Again my sincere sympathy to Joyce' family. Love and prayers, Iona

It was nice to see the video. I had not viewed a memorial service online before. Very nice service. I could recognize some family members but not all of them. Thank you Lisa. And thank you for the card with the news that my memorial gift went to a home for kitty cats. I thought that was so appropriate.
