Norris L. Weflen, 72, of New Town, North Dakota, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at his home in rural New Town, North Dakota.

Norris Lee Weflen was born on June 12, 1951, in Minot, North Dakota to Olav and Rose Weflen. Growing up he attended rural Harmony Elementary School and then attended New Town High School.

Norris lived in Texas and California prior to returning home to the family farm in rural New Town where he lived until he passing. He had many hobbies throughout his life including fishing, coin collecting, cooking, gardening, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Norris was the life of the party wherever he went. He loved music and loved to sing along to songs even more. He will also be mourned by Shelby (Manny) Sevilla; 8 great nieces and nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

On the farm 2014
We first met in our late teens. So handsome! We stayed in touch off and on through the years. I will always remember his wit and that sparkle in his eye. He was one of a kind and I cannot believe that he is gone. My deepest condolences to the Weflen family. He will be missed by so many.

Norris was kind, handsome and had good wit. I decided he was ‘cool’ too when me and my ‘dweeby’ cousins, all of us at about 8 years old (to his 15 or so) thought we were SO clever to make ‘wine” with apple cider vinegar, sugar and water in the Weflens basement. Norris interviewed us about this (as he was on to our clandestine ways) but kept our confidence. He didn’t tease, snark, or tell. He was the original ‘cool’ dude! I’m so grateful I had the chance to visit with him in July 2022, picture below during the Olaf Bjaaland Tradition.
