Franklin A. Glimm, 85, of Zahl, ND passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at his home in Zahl, ND.

Franklin Arnold Glimm was born on June 1st, 1938 to Clifford and Viva (Hoehn) Glimm in Williston, ND.

Frank proudly served in the United States Army and for many years was an active member of the American Legion.

He married Molly Moorhead and they recently celebrated their 61st Wedding Anniversary.

Frank spent his life on the farm south of Zahl growing crops and raising Registered Angus cattle. Since his retirement, the only time he didn’t miss the cattle was when the temps dropped to 30 below.

Frank is survived by his wife, Molly; their son, Lin (Carolyn); daughter, Kim (Patrick) Schmaltz; grandchildren, Britteny, Blair, Zoey, Cheyenne and Devin (Brenda); great-grandchildren, Bella, Layne, Theo and Violet; siblings, Shirley (Gene) Vogl, Marvin (Myrna) Glimm, and Jerome (Louise) Glimm, and sisters-in-law, Devona Moorhead and Mary (Steve) Redding.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Molly, Lin, Kim: I am so, so sorry to hear off Frank's passing. As you well know, he was extremely dedicated to 4-H livestock activities and the advancement of beef cattle production in both Montana and North Dakota. He was an inspiration to me from the very moment we met in your house back in March, 1981. It is painful to realize I'll never get to thank him for all his support and guidance.

Frank was our State Commander and he swore me in as the first female Commander at the Tioga Legion. He was there to help me through difficult times and got me to join the Grenora Legion. He was so easy to talk to, such a gentleman with the greatest love for the Legion and America. I often thought of him, and wish I had reached out all these years later. My deepest sympathies to his wife and family, and let it be known, we lost a genuine hero and Zahl, the Legion, and many organizations he worked so hard to help will miss him dearly as well. God be with you Frank, and thank you for being you, a great example to all you met.
