Nancy Schooley, 73, of Alexander, ND passed away January 30, 2024 at The Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, ND. She was a beloved Grandma, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Cousin, Aunt and Friend.

Nancy Ann Poler was born on September 28, 1950 in Gregory, SD. She was the first of 5 children born to Clarence and Clarice (O’Bryan) Poler.

She graduated from Colome High School in Colome, SD and furthered her education with cosmetology school. Later in life she changed careers, owned a couple of car lots, worked at a casino and then later at a day care. In the late 1990’s and early 2000’s Nancy worked on a feed lot in Rapid City, SD.

Nancy was a member of the Brotherhood of the Third Wheel. She enjoyed her Trikes, the Sturgis Bike Rally and spending time with friends that would come into town for the rally.

She was able to spend her last years with her kids and grandkids. In 2017 Nancy moved to Piedmont, AL to spend time with Chris, Dana and Grandkids for a few years. In 2021 she then moved to Alexander, ND to enjoy some time with Shawn, Janet and Grandkids.

In 2019 Nancy was diagnosed with breast cancer which led to a difficult time. Her friends from Grace Tabernacle filled her time with flowers, gifts and visits that helped to brighten her days. That year she was able to enjoy both of her boys, her daughter in laws and all of her grandchildren on vacation together making memories.

In November 2021 Nancy moved into The Good Shepherd Home in Watford City, ND where she enjoyed making new friends. Her favorite activities was playing Bingo and spending time with her cat McKenzie. On behalf of the family, a special thank you to all of the nursing staff for the kindness, love and support so freely given. Nancy loved you all.

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Clarence and Clarice Poler and Aunts and Uncles.

Those blessed to have her touch their lives are her children: Shawn (Janet) Schooley, Alexander, ND, Chris (Dana) Turner, Piedmont, AL. Grandchildren: Lacey Schooley/Jacob Dodge, Junction City, KS, Dylan Schooley/Alissah Hickey, Baker, MT, Breanna Schooley/Taylor Smith, Dickinson, ND, Dylan (Rebecca) Williams, Piedmont, AL, Cody Turner/Kristen Lowery, Glencoe, AL, Kali Thrash, Piedmont, AL. Siblings: Judy (Dan) Kahler, Kona, HI, Ed Poler, Galt, CA, Kaye (Win) Eckerman, Winner, SD, Jim (Snow) Poler, Needville, TX. Nieces and Nephews: Amy (Curt) Tamanaha, Gardnerville, NV, Mardi (Marty) Pederson, Winner, SD, Terry (Jennifer) Eckerman, Spencer, SD, Misty (Matt) LaMere, Denver, CO, Chyanne Poler, Needville, TX. Great Nieces and Nephews: Ty Bolton, Mason and Chase Tamanaha, Katie and Rexton Pederson, Grace and Owen Eckerman, Maddox LaMere.

Per Nancy’s wishes a Graveside service will be held on May 18, 2024 in Colome, SD at 10am followed by a luncheon at the American Legion.

Eternal rest grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace.
I so enjoyed our visits about Jesus and our loved ones in heaven. We are keeping our eyes focused on Jesus, so we can see you again, Nancy. Such a beautiful friend. You will be missed!

Shawn, Janet, Chris, Dana and families- I am so very sorry for your loss of sweet Nancy. She was truly one-of-a-kind and I will miss her greatly at GSH. She loved you and your families SO much. Sending thoughts and prayers your way.
