William (Bill) Brunner beloved husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and friend to many passed away on January 22, 2024, at the Sidney Health Center surrounded by family. He is joining his beloved wife Darlene in heaven.

Bill was born in Padroni, CO on October 24, 1936 to Godfrey and Grace Brunner. He grew up on the family farm in Padroni along with two brothers: James Brunner and Donald Brunner and three sisters: Virginia Amen, Mildred Rose and Betty Andersen.

On February 17, 1957, Bill was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart Darlene Mae Bunning. They were married for 56 years until Darlene passed away on December 23, 2013.

In 1968 he supervised the dismantling and reconstruction of the plant in Fairview MT, later supervising the construction, maintenance, and operation of several Gas Plants, Compressor Stations, and Pipeline operations in the area. In 1994, he was transferred to Denver, CO returning in 1996 to the Sidney area to be closer to family and grandchildren.

Together they had three daughters: Pam (Dan) Smith of Sidney, Tami (Terry) Weaver of Billings, Peggy Brunner of Sidney and one son Jeff (Shelly) Brunner of Breckenridge, MN. He loved watching and supporting his children and grandchildren in all of the activities they were involved in. He had eight grandchildren: Lisa (Joshua Vogel) Warner of Billings, Heather (Brock) Nelson of Dickinson, ND, Megan Smith of Dickinson, Alex (Jamie) Weaver of Billings, Jess (Katie) Weaver of Billings, Brandon Brunner of Breckenridge, Nicholas Brunner of Breckenridge, and Nathan Brunner of Breckenridge. He also had seven great grandchildren: Alexa Warner of Billings, Sterling Warner of Billings, Parker Nelson of Dickinson, Taylor Nelson of Dickinson, Jayden Nelson of Dickinson, Agnes Weaver of Billings, and Mei Weaver of Billings. He was always their best cheerleader and traveled many miles to Billings, Dickinson, and Breckenridge to support them in their sports and activities.

He spent several years on the Fairview School Board, served on the Zion Lutheran Church Council, and was a trustee for the Lonsdale Methodist Church. He always enjoyed spending time visiting with people. For many years he would take his daily walk out to McDonalds and have coffee and visit with a group of friends. He also loved doing woodworking making some beautiful projects over the years. He made numerous beautiful diamond willow canes and walking sticks.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents Godfrey and Grace Brunner, his beloved wife Darlene, sisters Virginia Amen and Mildred Rose, brother James Brunner and one infant son.

Our Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa, and friend will be greatly missed.

Bill was certainly a personality! I worked under him for alot of years and we didn't get along well early on. I described him as an uncouth, uncultured, belligerent horse's ass! We gradually came to know each other and all was good. Always enjoyed running into to the ornery old f*r in our later years. RIP old buddy!

I worked with Bill at Trenton with Koch. He taught me so much about the business, but more importantly about life. I treasure the memories, especially early morning coffee. What a good man!
