Audrey H. Braun, 82, Ridgewood, New Jersey, passed away from cancer, June 18, 2020, in her home.
Audrey was born July 8, 1937, in Stanley, to Martin and Lillian Haustveit. She enjoyed a bucolic childhood on the family farm in Tioga, which her grandfather homesteaded in the late 1800’s.
She earned her B.A. degree at Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, in 1958. Then taught in Moorhead, Stevensville, Montana and Roseburg, Oregon before going to New Jersey. She taught at Hanover Park High School, where she met her husband, Carl, and spent twenty-one years at Bogota High School, where she taught computer use along with other business subjects, and was the department chairman.
Her childhood was idyllic. Life on the expansive farm was exciting. She rode her horse, Roy, and enjoyed all her pets, including dogs, cats, goats, sheep and rabbits. She enjoyed being with her dad in the fields and her mom in the house. While in college, she participated in the North Dakota beauty contest and she sang in a trio with her sister and a college classmate. Her trio was chosen to appear on the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour. She played French horn and was church pianist.
She was an excellent and talented teacher. Her dedication to her students was outstanding. She helped so many develop their abilities and skills. Her contributions to her school were too numerous to describe. Having traveled extensively, she was content, after retirement, to enjoy her music and life in Ridgewood.
Audrey was a caring, serene person with an even, kind temperament. She was well loved by those who knew her. Hers was a loving existence; she brought light and love into the world. She was beautiful; there will never be another like her.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Blaine Haustveit (February, 2020).
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 60 years, Carl; and sister, Shirley Ellingson, Redmond Washington.
