Shirley Faye Lund, 65, of Dickinson, ND formerly of Tioga, ND passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at the Sanford Health Broadway Hospital in Fargo, ND.

She was born October 28, 1957 to Raymond S. Lund and Bernice E. Doede Lund in Stanley, ND and moved to Tioga, ND the same year.

Shirley was raised at home with her family until her entrance into Grafton State School at the age of 8. At the age of 31, Shirley moved to Dickinson, where she was supported by care support through ABLE, Inc.

The family would like to express a special thank you to Sarah, Brittany, Cheyenne, and all who loved and cared for her.

Shirley is survived by her sisters and brothers, Jeanette (Dean) Domsten of Elko, NV, Judy Barrett of Melbourne, FL, Roy (Pam) Lund of Rugby, ND, Rodney (Kathy) Lund of Minot, ND and Ronnie Lund of Tioga, ND; uncle, Richard (Carol) Doede of Carson City, NV, many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Bernice Lund; brother-in-law, Lt. Col. Guy K. Barrett USAF; many aunts and uncles.

I’m so sorry and saddened to hear about the passing of Shirley. I was blessed to care for Shirley and grow a beautiful friendship with her while working at Able in Dickinson. I’m so glad we were still able to stay in touch years after I moved. I sure miss our coffee dates and religiously watching the Voice most evenings. She’s a beautiful soul! Thinking of her family, friends & loved ones during this time.

I assisted Shirley when she lived in her apartment on the south side of town. She insisted on doing everything for herself that she could, even dragging her laundry baskets to the washer. She helped writing her checks for her own rent. Last time I saw her I asked her if she’d gotten her drivers license for her wheelchair! We had lots of good times together. She will be missed.

Oh my sweet Shirley, she will be so missed, I had the privilege working with Shirley when she first came to Able- Her and I were the best of friends, she was always such a character, she loved her nails done and her hair done. She loved animals and babies.
Her smile was contagious. When I saw her out later in the years she always gave me a big hug and kiss! We will all miss you Shirley

I had a pleasure to work and get to know Shirley over the 18 years I worked at ABLE! We became friends and we would go out to eat mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie every now and then! Once COVID hit I lost touch but always kept her in my heart. Rest in peace my friend.
