Martha B Simard
March 18, 1933 - March 23, 2023

Place of Birth: Savage, Montana
Residence: Sidney, Montana
Age: 90

Martha Blanch Scott Simard went home to the Lord and all her family, friends, husband and loved ones on March 23, 2023.

Martha was born March 18, 1933 to Margaret Basso Scott and Clarence Scott. She joined older brother, Ole Scott; sister, Katherine Scott Harstsfield; and younger brother Willard Scott whom have all passed before her. They lived in Savage until she was in the first grade then they moved to Banning, CA where she lived until the later 1950’s, when she moved back to Glendive, MT and worked at Shell Oil for some time. After, she moved to Sidney, MT and worked at the courthouse.

On February 13, 1960, she married Alpha “Coon” Simard. They started their family five miles south of Sidney on the farm Coon had. They were blessed with four children; Sam (Susan), Joe (Kerri), Tracy (Billy), Brent, and infant son Scott who only lived for a few hours. Her children gave her numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who were very loved by her and were the light of her eyes – they all brought her so much joy! She worked hard raising her family and helping on the farm when needed. She made the best beet harvest lunches for all the help who loved everything she made. She always made the best family dinners every Sunday and cakes for each of her children’s birthdays when they were young. For years, she raised several hundred chickens with the help of her kids and butchered them with the help of family and friends.

Coon and Martha spend over 62 happy years together before his passing on September 27, 2022 at their home. They enjoyed watching their TV programs in later years, along with their chocolate shakes and diet Pepsi. They looked forward to the simple things in life. She enjoyed company every day and looked forward to Fridays when Brent and Brent Jr. would come visit her. She had just welcomed two new great grandchildren into the world. One was born a week before her 90th birthday.

She will be greatly missed by all her family but a piece of her remains with them. She was such a wonderful and loving mother who would be upset if it wasn’t mentioned that she was ornery too! Martha loved and was loved by all.

I was so sorry to hear of Aunt Martha's passing. I missed getting letters from her and still have some she wrote me. Your rest in Heaven is well deserved. She helped take care of two of our aunts, Audrey and Alberta, driving them when they needed to go someplace.
