Cleone Thorvilson, 73, of Tioga, North Dakota, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Tioga Medical Center in Tioga, ND. Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Tioga, ND is assisting the family.

She was born June 6, 1949 in Powers Lake, ND to Verena and Curtis Roloff.

Cleone attended and graduated from McGregor Public Schools. After graduation she went to Williston to attend college and then to Minot Cosmetology School. From there she moved to Illinois to work for Burlington Northern Railroad. While there she married Jim Riha. They were later divorced.

Cleone later moved to Williston and married Richard Thorvilson. They moved to Indiana and she was employed by the US Postal Service. After their divorce she was transferred to the Bismarck Post Office where she worked in various positions until her retirement in June 2014.

Several years later she moved back to the family home in McGregor and then purchased a home in Tioga.

She enjoyed traveling and visited several countries. Some of her hobbies included reading, crocheting, playing cards, and gardening. She was also a great cook and baker. She proudly held the title of “Favorite Aunt”.

Cleone is survived by sisters, Carol (Jack) Gossman, Connie (Rod) Brumlow; brothers, Wilmer (Mary Ellen) Roloff, Verdean (Terry) Roloff; half brother, Nolan Shefstad; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Verena Roloff; niece, Jacqueline Gossman; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

I am sad to hear of Cleone's passing. Although I didn't know her well, I enjoyed visiting with her. During this time, may you find comfort and peace in memories of her.

Cleone was a treat. I got to know her more when Shirley and her came to Az to visit us. She was a hoot to spar with my husband. He called her Clone. She was special and will be truly missed.
