Betty Peterson, 76, of New Town, ND passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, at her home in New Town, ND.

Betty J. Peterson, 76, of New Town, North Dakota passed away on Friday, August 19, 2022, at her home in New Town, North Dakota.

Betty was born November 16, 1945, to Victor and Mary Elk in Elbowoods, North Dakota. She was raised in New Town, North Dakota and she attended school in Stanley, North Dakota and Pierre, South Dakota until 8th grade. Once she quit school she then moved back to New Town, North Dakota to live with her mother.

When she was in teenage years, she moved away from her home and was married to her first husband, Phillip Huwe, they were later divorced. Betty then met Dennis Ellingson and they had one child, Flora, the couple later split. She then met Bob Langved, they then had four children, Robert, Kirk, Lynn, and Charlene. Betty and Bob then split and Betty raised her five children as a single mother for many years. Betty then met the love of her life, Fred “Pete” Peterson, and they had Bobbi Jo. Pete unexpectedly passed away in 1979 after his military service. Betty lived in many areas of North Dakota throughout her life along with Rapid City, South Dakota.

She worked many different jobs, but housekeeping was her main job for a long period of time. Betty enjoyed playing games, spending time with her family and friends, but especially playing Keno at the casino.

Betty is preceded in death by her husband Fred “Pete” Peterson; her parents, Victor and Mary Elk; daughter, Flora Smith, and granddaughter, Amber Stout.

Betty is survived by her children; Robert Huwe, Kirk (Roberta) Huwe, Lynn Huwe, Charlene (Mike) Klemish, and Bobbi Jo Peterson sisters; Vicki Conklin-Elk and Louise Conklin-Elk grandchildren; Angelica, Ashley, Dontae, Heather (Christian), Jean (Ryan), Justin, Leeann, Mariah, Mikey, and Trey great-grandchildren; Ashley, Destiny, Malyke, Mapalo, Temperance, Trinity, Xamira nephews; Aaron, Dean, Larry, Sean.
