Levi “Bug” Stammen, 23, of Grand Forks, North Dakota (formerly of Stanley, North Dakota) passed away at his home on Monday, May 23, 2022.
Levi Duane Stammen known affectionately as “Bug” to his family and friends was born in Fargo, North Dakota on September 22, 1998 to Scott and Carolyn (Flom) Stammen. He spent his first few years living in Hillsboro, ND until the family moved Stanley in 2008. He graduated from Stanley High School in May of 2017. He recently lived in Grand Forks and worked at Technology Applications Group as a tagnite deck operator.
Levi was a technology geek and saved many family member’s budgets when he could fix issues on their computers, phones and iPads. His dad’s goal was to work alongside Levi and have his own personal IT guy. He also used those talents to enjoy gaming with many of his friends. Many nights were spent playing games until the early hours of the morning.
Levi was a fun-loving son that enjoyed antagonizing his mom when he wanted to get her going. He was notorious for telling her that he just had to “poke the bear”. He greeted his dad with "Hey Chief" or "Aye, Aye Captain" whenever he saw him. His brother would drive to Grand Forks and together they would watch UND “Fighting Sioux” hockey games. His quick wit and humor were a force to be reckoned with. He would search the internet finding funny stories or memes that he would share with his family and friends.
Levi was willing to offer assistance whenever someone needed help. When asked if he needed anything, he would respond with “Nah, I am golden!” He was famous for his one-liners, often joking or making wisecracks. It was difficult for him to be serious as he preferred to make the mood lighter to the people around him.
Levi was kind-hearted and cared for all types of animals. He shared many photos of his cat, a stray, Victoria (he called her Shithead) and would comment on her antics throughout the day. Levi loved spending time with his friends and family. He enjoyed traveling to Florida and recently went alligator hunting. Levi had champagne taste and would have preferred to rent a yacht or Cadillac Escalade on those trips. He was very proud of his “Caddy” or War Pony.
Our hearts are forever broken. “We love you every day and now we will miss you every day.”
Levi is survived by his parents, Cari and Hoss; his brother Caleb; his maternal grandmother, Ardis Rolland; maternal grandfather, Dale (Sandy) Flom; aunts and uncles, Tim Flom, Dennis (Sandy Haugen) Flom, Kim (Alison) Stammen, Korey (Val) Stammen and Juleen Mader; and many cousins.
Levi was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Duane and Marleen Stammen; maternal grandmother, Mary Jane Flom; maternal grandfather, Marlin Rolland; uncle, Shawn Stammen; and cousin, Michael Stammen.
