Echo Kjallberg, 103, of Stanley, North Dakota passed away on Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at the Mountrail County Bethel Home in Stanley, North Dakota.
Echo Margaret Kjallberg was born on September 13, 1918 at her grandparents’ homestead south of Blaisdell, North Dakota. She was the second child of Mabel and Enoch Berg. After a short stay in California, she lived her early life in the Blaisdell community attending a one room school for seven years, and graduating from Blaisdell High School. After high school she attended beautician school in Minot, North Dakota. Echo was baptized and confirmed at Shell Creek Lutheran church of rural Blaisdell, North Dakota.
After her marriage to Carl Kjallberg, they established a new farmstead near Tagus, North Dakota where they lived until retirement. They then moved to Minot, North Dakota. Carl died in 1991 and Echo continued to live in Minot until April 2021, when she became a resident at the Mountrail Bethel Home of Stanley, North Dakota.
During her lifetime as a farmers’ wife, she continued her interests in gardening, being a seamstress, baker, Sunday School teacher, 4-H leader, hunter, skier, bowler, and artist. She was especially known for her beautiful rosemaling. Echo and Carl were caregivers and second parents to many friends and relatives during their lives.
Echo is survived by her sister, Luella Dunn of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Echo in death were her husband, Carl; her parents; brother, Gordon; and sister, Marie Burud.
