James (Jim) Footh, 81, of Stanley, ND passed away on Sunday, February 6,2022 at Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND.

James Ervin Footh was born on January 4, 1941 to Edna and Ervin Footh, and he was the oldest of four children. He attended school in Lund’s Valley and then Powers Lake High School where he graduated with the class of 1961. Following his graduation Jim was drafted into the United States Army, and proudly served his country. He served one term and was deployed one year overseas in South Korea.

On May 25, 1967 James was united in marriage to the love of his life, Dinah Rogstad. Together the couple had two children, a son Neil and a daughter Laura. In 1968 the family moved to Washington State where Jim worked many different jobs. Some of his most enjoyable jobs were road construction and tree trimming. The family came back to North Dakota in 1981 and moved onto the family farm. Jim continued to work construction and trimming until he retired at the age of 72. Jim was a farmer and rancher, and he had a great passion for animals and enjoyed raising a variety of animals on the farm.

Jim had a good sense of humor and had so many stories to tell. He never met a stranger because he would talk to everyone and anyone. He enjoyed playing pinochle with family and friends. Jim loved getting together with family on Sundays where good food, good laughs, and good visits were shared by all.

Jim is survived by his wife Dinah; son, Neil (Deb) Footh; daughter, Laura (Ron) Paetz; brothers, Robert (Darlene) Footh and Curtis (Rita) Footh; sister, Joann (Dwight) Johnson; grandchildren, Casey (Desirae) Footh, Jessica (Kenen) Wilson, Nicole, Ryan, and Ethan Paetz; great-grandchildren, Kaylee and Tyler Wilson, and Owen Footh.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Edna Footh.

Dinah, I am praying for healing for you & your families!
I have known Jim my whole life! Being cousins, & both living on farms, we spent a lot of time together.
Jim had this weird sense of humor that always made you laugh.
Dinah & Jim were the perfect pair! You never saw Jim without Dinah beside him!
I am so very sorry I won’t be able to attend the funeral!
Jim will remain one of my favorite cousins forever!
