Lola Mildred Price Christensen

Generous, loving, and compassionate, Lola, age 88, faithfully prayed for God to take away her earthly pain. Her prayers were answered as she peacefully passed into God’s arms at home on November 17, 2021.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winston and Jeanette Price; three brothers, William, Vincent, and Floyd Price; sister, Joan Price Mendro; son, Todd Stoner, and grandson, William Eugene Abbott. She leaves behind her husband of 52+ years, Bill Christensen; sister, Jean Price Thirud; brother, Paul Price, son Steve Stoner (Butte, MT); and daughters Rae Olson (Williston), Jan Stoner (Williston), Pamela Abbott (Phoenix, AZ), and Laurene Christensen (Inver Grove Heights, MN). She also leaves a legacy of 12 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

Lola’s love language was giving. While she was rarely caught smiling in any photographs, she always had smiles and hugs to share. She was happiest when she was making and giving something to someone else and especially delighted in gifts made with children in mind. She hated being recognized or honored for her generosity. Some of her expressions of love included flower bouquets and produce from her beautiful summer gardens; canning jams, jellies, and applesauce for local day care centers and the church pantry; and sewing – always sewing. She said any day she could sit behind her sewing machine and sew was a good day! She made hundreds of pillowcases for Shriners’ Children in Minneapolis; a charity dear to her heart because they gave so generously to one of her granddaughters. Every family member, as well as friends adopted by Lola as family, owns a prayer quilt made by her especially for them. Lola also made and donated dozens of quilts to local causes whose missions are to give comfort during tough times. Also among her sewing talents are many banners made especially for special celebrations for Gloria Dei and Faith.

Memorial Contribution
In lieu of flowers, Lola asked that you carry on her mission by donating peanut butter and jelly to a church pantry – hers or yours!

I have fond memories of the times spent with both Lola and Bill (my good friends). While I haven't seen them in many years, I've thought of them often. I can't retrieve words that are adequate to describe the respect I had for Lola and how much I enjoyed her company. She was a wonderful person.

Laurene and family,

Your mom sounds like a very special person, and how lovely that so many people have physical remembrances of her through her quilts and other gifts. I'm so sorry for your loss and hope you will hold your memories dearly. I will be sure to add peanut butter and jelly to pantry donations!
