Scot Tracy Panasuk
November 13, 1957 - November 6, 2021

Place of Birth: Williston, North Dakota
Residence: Bainville, Montana
Age: 63

Scot T. Panasuk, 63, of Bainville, Montana, passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021 in rural Bainville, MT.

Scot Tracy Panasuk was born in Williston, North Dakota on November 13, 1957. He was the fifth child of George and Irene Panasuk’s seven children and grew up on the family farm north of Bainville, Montana.

He was educated in Bainville and graduated from Bainville High School with the class of 1976. Scot went to Minot State University where he played Defensive End and Linebacker on the football team with a football scholarship. He then transferred to Montana State University and earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Ag Business.

In 1977, he met Diane Hughes, who he was married to from 1978 until 2016. Scot, Diane, and Travis, Diane’s son who Scot loved like his own, moved out to the farm that they had purchased 6 miles south of Bainville after his time at MSU. Their family was completed with the birth of their son Trent in 1988.

Scot enjoyed the finer things in life – playing cards, fishing, driving his ’57 Chevy, and riding his Harley all while dipping wintergreen snus and drinking copious amounts of COFFEE. He suffered a life of disappointment as a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan waiting for the elusive Super Bowl win, but there was always a smile on his face when a Norwegian joke was told or there was a plate of Lutefisk in front of him. Anyone who met Scot will remember his hearty laugh that lit up a room and made everyone smile. Though he endured Northeast Montana winters his entire life, he recently embraced the sunny Arizona snowbird lifestyle.

Scot was a passionate farmer who was known throughout the area for his knowledge, advice, and willingness to lend a hand. Above all else, Scot loved his family and the Lord. He lived a faith-filled life and had a positive impact on all who knew him.

Scot was a pillar in the Bainville community throughout his life. He served on the School Board, the Volunteer Fire Department, and the Church Board for many years.

He is survived by his sons Trent Panasuk and Travis Chartier; Diane Panasuk; brothers, Dana (Brenna) Panasuk, Miles (Cyndy) Panasuk, Mark (Jan) Panasuk and Todd (Brinda) Panasuk; sisters, Mary (Greg) Peed and Amy Beth Miller; as well as many nieces and nephews who adored him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Panasuk.

To the George and Irene Panasuk family...Marnie and I are mourning the loss of Scot by a cowardly murderer! His death is so senseless as his plans to live life to the fullest were cut short...! I know personally he was proud of all his family especially his son Trent...Marnie and I are proud that you were able to come together for Scot and give a great depiction of Scot's life...Scot is smiling as he knows you are fulfilling his wishes in this difficult task. Stay strong as you have many friends and family praying for you all...! Marnie and I are praying with you as we too are devastated of Scot's life cut short
All our Love to family Steve and Marnie

Dana and to the entire family of Scot’s. To lose a brother and family member in such a manner as this has to be so sad and unbearable. We try to understand it all! In times like these we feel the power of God’s love dwelling within us. God has all the answers and reasons, in reading all the comments about Scot, we realize that he was acting with his sincere desire to help someone in a stressful situation. In my opinion, he is a Martyr for the cause of Christ! Please have the comfort that Heaven Is Sounding Sweeter All The Time!

My thoughts have been with Scot’s family all week, and my heart hurts for all of you. I got to know Scot the summer of 1988 when I babysat Trent. Scot would often find his way inside on the hot summer days for a Schwan’s ice cream treat or two, and we always shared a few laughs about farm and ranch life. If Trent was awake, the visits were longer, as Trent was learning and sharing new tricks every day and his Daddy loved every minute with Trent. Scot’s love for his family and community was evident. I am sending hugs and prayers as you celebrate Scot’s life.
