Our Precious Little Angel

Amaya “Maya” Adwoa Acheaw, age 7, of Williston, ND, passed away on Saturday, November 6th, 2021 in a tragic automobile accident near Williston.

Amaya was born on August 11th, 2014 in Williston, ND to Kumi Acheaw and Stephanie Lee. Amaya was attending the 1st grade at McVay Elementary School. She was a bright student and always eager and excited to learn new things.

Amaya was a social butterfly. She was curious and inquisitive, asking questions of and talking with anyone she encountered. She loved putting on makeup and nails with her mother, and would often help with Stephanie’s nail business. She greatly admired her older brothers and loved to talk about them to whoever would listen. She enjoyed attending Carter’s hockey and football games; as well as watching Rylan play video games and showing off her own gaming accomplishments to him.

Amaya loved an audience and showing off her talents through dancing hip hop at Elizabeth’s Dance Expressions and, for a short time, playing hockey.

Amaya is survived by her father, Kumi Acheaw; her brothers, Rylan, Carter, Gideon and Osei; her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Diana Lee; aunts, Amanda and “Mammy Mae;” and numerous cousins. She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Kofi Kumi and Afia Badu Acheaw.

The news of this tragedy has hit our little community hard. Amaya, I'll always remember your voice visiting at daycare drop-off and pickup, how you loved to see baby Conley as soon as we came in the door, and how you said "Pipah". I'm glad you and your mama have each other eternally, but my heart breaks you both were taken too soon from your family and loved ones on earth.

Oh Amaya. You made such an impression on everyone you met in your little life. I will miss your knocks on the door with Carter asking if Finley can come out and play. Fly high little one.
