David Darrel Uhlich, 75 of Tioga, ND, passed away at Trinity Medical Center in Minot, ND on Wednesday, October 20, 2021.

Dave was born on April 27, 1946 in Minot, ND at Trinity Hospital to David and Pearl Uhlich. Dave grew up on the family farm south of Drake, ND. He talked fondly about his life on the farm. He attended Drake Public School where he was involved in basketball, football, and softball. He graduated in the Spring of 1964. Upon graduating he attended Minot State College for two years. Dave then enlisted in the Navy and he proudly served his Country in California and Hawaii as he served as a Laboratory Technician. After his service he returned to Minot State College earning a BS in Medical Technology in 1974.

He met the love of his life Roxy Schobinger while attending college. They were married at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on September 30, 1972. They made their home in Tioga where Dave was a Laboratory Technician at Tioga Medical Center. Dave had various jobs in the oil filed later in his life while he and Roxy raised their family which included 3 sons; David, Cody, and Ben. Among the many things Dave enjoyed teaching his boys, He loved teaching hunting, fishing, and carpentry the most. He was always teaching them some life skill that they would be able to use when they got older and could then pass on to their own children. Dave also had a passion for cooking and gardening. He loved his apple trees and looked forward to baking his famous apple pies.

Dave was a man of few words. He fiercely loved his family especially “Rox and his boys” and will be missed by so many.

Dave is survived by his wife, Roxy; three sons, David (Roxie) Uhlich of Watford City, ND, Cody (Donna) Uhlich of Tioga, ND and Ben (Winter) Uhlich of Garretson, SD; grandchildren, Tyler Uhlich, Jayden Uhlich, Mckenna Uhlich, Luke Uhlich, Rave Uhlich, Cade Uhlich, Gloria (Harold) Bethel, Leah (Bubba) Kane, Alex (Morgan) Bush, and Michael (Sarah) Bush. He was loved by many great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, David Uhlich; his mother, Pearl Uhlich, and his infant brother, Geoffrey Uhlich.

Our sincere condolences to Roxy and the family. Dave was a cousin and nephew we loved. Dave or Darrel as we knew him growing up had so much to add to life, always being a jokester. We are proud of him for his Navy service. God Bless his memory. We do not think we can make the trip for the funeral and will watch the service online and be with you all in Spirit. Wish very much we could be there to visit and give hugs.

My heart aches so for you all. Not a single day goes by that you are not on my mind, in my heart and prayers nightly. I have no words to express the sorrow you endure, nor can I give any to ease it. Know we are with you in our thoughts and Roxy, you are my hero in so many ways. God love you, we all do too !!

I had to watch the funeral-wish I could have been there-he made a special trip to other Uhlich funerals. While watching you could tell the love of the family. I will always remember that when he heard of Aunt Maxine and the girls coming out to see his Mom Pearl that he would grab a horse and a book and be gone for the afternoon. I don't blame him I think it was right up his alley and besides there were so many girl cousins
