It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Annette I Johnson
December 8, 1924 - September 15, 2021

Place of Birth: Williston, North Dakota
Residence: Sidney, MT formerly of Williston, ND
Age: 96

Annette was born on December 8, 1924 in Williston, ND to Casper and Inger Sylte. She was raised at Athens Township and attended Twin Lakes School, graduating from Williston High School in 1942. Annette married Chester Olson on June 28, 1946. Though Chester passed away in May 1952, her love for him never faltered. She married Lloyd “Slim” Johnson on July 20th, 1964 at First Lutheran Church in Williston, where she was a lifelong member. Nettie was active in the WELCA and quilting guild. Annette remained in Williston, working as Secretary Clerk at District 8 for over 28 years. At the age of 90, she moved to The Lodge in Sidney, MT to be closer to her family. She had a fantastic sense of humor and unforgettable personality, being strong in both mind and spirit all throughout her 96 years. Annette’s many hobbies included quilting, gardening, canning, and baking; her most well-loved confections being her sugar cookies, lefse, divinity, and above all her fudge (for which she never revealed her secret recipe). She was the only person we know who actually liked doing her taxes. She loved her cats and lutefisk, although understood that the latter could be an acquired taste. She was guided through life by her faith, her family, and her love of music. Grandma Nettie adored her five granddaughters, who will always remember her for her squeaky kisses and unconditional love.
Annette I. Sylte Olson Johnson, beloved matriarch known for her spunk and her wit, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT.
Annette is survived by her daughter Bonita (Don) Iversen of Fairview, MT; son Daniel (Cindy) Olson of Garrison, ND; stepson Norman Johnson and his wife Rose Howard of Wildrose, ND; stepdaughter Wanda Miller of Fairview, MT; her five grandchildren Dee Anderson of Littleton, CO; Jill (Dale) Vitt of Fairview, MT; Lana (Dan) Feeley of Fargo, ND; Joni (Josh) Mehrhoff of Fargo, ND; Marlee Iversen of Fairview, MT; her eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandsons, as well as her five step-grandchildren Teresa Johnson Malzer; Alicia Johnson Rinck; Jacey Johnson; Beth (Ross) Purcell of Kent, WA; Lisa Miller and her husband Chris Sandoval of Auburn, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Ernest (Elma) Sylte; sister Emily (Telmar) Rolfstad; sister Bernice (Lawrence) Berg; her husband Chester Olson and husband Lloyd “Slim” Johnson.

To all of Nettie’s family, Nettie was such a blessing in my life with her common sense, practical advice, priceless wry sense of humor, love, and her deep faith in Jesus Christ. Thank you for sharing her with me. She has gained her wings and is reunited with her loved ones in heaven. RIP dear friend.

I had the privilege of knowing Annette when she worked at district 8 , where she was so helpful with things for Ellisville school. Then when we moved to Williston and joined First Lutheran church saw more of her servant hood. She left her mark on lives of many . My sincere sympathy.

Dear Dan and Bonnie, sorry for the loss of your dear mother Nettie, A very sharp wit on the occasions I visited with her and carried it right to the end. Same thing with my dad Jerry who was one month younger than Nettie. Makes it that much tougher to see them go. Peace.

Dan and Bonnie my sympathy to you in the loss of your mom. I remember all the rides to Sunday School in my early years. Your mom was a true servant to others.

To all of the families of Nette,
So many memories of her and her smile and wit. She always had time for a visit and a story. The last of the Sylte ancestors. May she rest in peace, and may her memories bring you peace. Sending lots of love your way!
