It Is Our Privilege And Purpose To Serve You
Laura M Germann
December 4, 1956 - February 25, 2021

Place of Birth: Sidney, MT
Residence: Squaw Gap, ND
Age: 64

Laura Mae Germann was born December 4, 1956 in Sidney, MT, to Howard and Amba Wheeling. She grew up on the family ranch in Squaw Gap, ND, where she developed a love of Hereford Cattle, and the Squaw Gap community. Her elementary school years were spent at the one room school in Squaw Gap. When the time came for high school, Laura boarded in town, and attended the Sidney High School. Laura had a long and varied college career. She attended NDSU, Dickinson State, and Williston State before completing her masters in education at MSU Northern.
While at Dickinson State, Laura met Jim Germann at a dance hosted by the rodeo club. The pair were married in Forsyth, MT. The couple lived in many different communities throughout Montana and North Dakota. Laura was always a favorite among her students and made a lifelong impression on many of them.
Jim and Laura had one son, Cole Germann, and in 2012 the family moved back to the family ranch at Squaw Gap. Back on the ranch, Laura continued serving the Rau school district as a guidance counselor, but was happiest on the ranch checking on the cows, tending her daylilies, and baking her famous blueberry pies.
Laura was a true light in this world. She was motivated, funny, honest to a fault, and never saw a Hereford calf she didn’t love. She will be truly missed by the many, many people who’s lived she touched.
Laura passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Sidney Health Center in Sidney, MT.
Laura is survived by; her son, Cole (Grace) Germann; her grandchildren, TJ and Amy Germann; her brothers, Mike (Patti) Wheeling, and Joe (Jennifer) Wheeling.
Laura is preceded in death by; her dear husband, Jim Germann; and her parents, Howard and Amba Wheeling.

Laura and her family were not only faithful members of Zion Lutheran Church during their years in Fairview but also were close neighbors to the parsonage where we lived. We enjoyed their friendship and mourn with Cole as he now bids farewell to his mom, just as he had to do so recently for his dad.

Oh, how I will miss our out of the blue phone conversations: both serious and hilarious! I will miss her loving spirit and the strong belief she had in me. One of a kind! And I so look forward to seeing Laura again. I'm so sorry, Cole, this has been an awful lot for a young man to travel through.

It was one of my great pleasures in life to know Laura as my friend. I met her during a difficult time for us both ... the day that her husband Jim and my sister Vicky were undergoing brain cancer surgeries at the same time at Mayo Clinic. A friendly conversation in the family waiting room quickly turned into a wonderful friendship. She was there for me when I needed her and I for her. I am so grateful that she took the time to visit me in California early in 2020. Even though our time together was brief, I feel like I knew this Sweet Lady my entire life. Rest in Peace my Dear Friend Laura!
