Berniece A. Halverson, 86, of Tioga, ND, passed away Monday, November 2, 2020 at the Tioga Medical Center ER in Tioga, ND.

Berniece Halvorsen was born February 27,1934 in Kenmare, ND to Arthur and Ruby (Lindberg) Christensen. She went to country school through 8th grade. She attended high school in Kenmare and graduated from there. Berniece attended Minot State College and received a teaching certificate. She later attended college in Dickinson, ND and received a Bachelor’s degree.

Berniece married Floyd (Lavern) Halvorsen in Niobe, ND on November 14th, 1956. They had one child a son, Terry. They were married 36 years until Floyd passed away on May 26, 2013.

They lived in Tioga, Williston, Dickinson in ND also Glendive, MT, Missoula, MT, Sheridan, WY, Vancouver, WA and Yuma, AZ. Berniece moved back to Tioga, ND May 2018 to be closer to family and friends.

Berniece taught school for 38 years in many of the places she lived. She enjoyed teaching. Bernice also enjoyed doing crafts, playing bingo, visiting with her friends and family, spending time with her dog and traveling around the western and southern states in their RV after their retirement.

She is survived by her sister, Irene of Tioga, ND; brothers, Delmer (Shirley), Kenneth (Donna) of Kenmare, ND, Harold (Juline) of Waverly, MN and Jay (Dorothy) of Bismarck, ND.

Berniece is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her son Terry; her brother-in-law, Rodney Olson; her parents, Arthur and Ruby Christensen and her father and mother-in-law, Floyd and Alice Halvorsen.
