Frederick "Alan" Bieri
August 11, 1931 - July 24, 2020

Place of Birth: Minot, North Dakota
Residence: Stanley, North Dakota
Age: 88

Frederick Alan Bieri, 88 of Stanley passed away at home on July 24, 2020.

Alan, the oldest of 4 children, was born August 11, 1931 in Minot to Frederick and Agnes (Myregard) Bieri. He lived in Blaisdell until moving to the farm north of Blaisdell when he was 6 years old. He attended grade school in Blaisdell and high school in Palermo. Alan worked on the rock crusher at Blaisdell for 2 years, construction for a time and then in the oil fields.

Alan married Rosemarie Goettle January 23, 1952 at the Rectory in Stanley. They first lived in Ray while Alan worked in the oilfield and they welcomed their oldest son Eugene. Two years later they welcomed their oldest daughter Fay. In the spring of 1957, they moved to the family farm where Alan farmed with his father until Fred's death in 1965. It was at this time he took over the family farm/ranch operation. Rosemarie and Alan also added 3 more children Renae, Michael and Freddie.

After retiring in 1996 from farming and ranching, Alan served as a local mail carrier, drove truck for Hanson's Excavating, and hauled cattle for area ranchers. In 2016, they moved to Stanley where he resided and spent hours in his workshop making too many Santas!

Alan was a long time member of the Blaisdell Rodeo Club. He served on the McGahan Township Board, the school board and was a 4-H leader.

Alan loved to farm, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards and having a good laugh with neighbors and friends.

He enjoyed life and loved his family. He can be best described by the words of one of his grandchildren,"We were fortunate to call you grandpa. You always made chasing cows fun (with a bit of hang on for dear life). We loved listening to you tell stories around the farmhouse table, and watching and learning your woodworking skills. We will always remember watching you twist your hair around your finger and letting the girls comb your hair. (You had the best hair!) We enjoyed your quick wit, and all of the nicknames you gave everyone. Our hearts have been broken, but they are hearts that were loved!"

Alan is survived by his wife, Rosemarie of 68 years; daughters, Fay (Butch) Lemke of Barnesville, MN and Renae (Jeff) Nordgaard of Bismarck, ND; sons, Michael (Kim) Bieri of Fayetteville, TN, and Fred (Donna) Bieri of Dodge, ND; sister, Bonnie (Rev. Morris) Vaageness of North Heights, MN; 12 grandchildren: Christopher Bieri, Stanley ND, Derek Bieri, Minneapolis, MN, Sean Bieri, Rapid City, SD, Angela Pierson, Moorhead, MN, Ryan Pierson, Fargo, ND, Kristen Bentley, Merdianville, AL, Kelcie Ryland, Tuscaloosa, AL, Tommy Bieri, Blaisdell, ND, Noah Bieri, Macy Bieri, Miranda Bieri, and Lizzy Bieri all of Dodge, ND. Four step grandchildren: Carson Nordgaard, Bismarck, ND, Ivy Nordgaard, Bismarck ND, Michael Lemke, Moorhead, MN and Summer Hammond, West Fargo, ND. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Agnes Bieri; son, Eugene Bieri; twin granddaughters, Abby and Libby Bieri; brother, Marlon (Bud) Bieri and sister, Sandra Sweningson.

To all the Bieri family -

I'm so sorry to hear of Alan's passing. He was a great guy - I always enjoyed talking with him when he'd be visiting Fay and family. Gotta love the old farmers - they have the best stories. Keep all the good memories with Alan close in your hearts. Take care my friends - Audra, Dallas and I will be thinking of you all.

Alan, what can I say about my favorite Uncle who was married to my favorite Aunt. Anytime I seen the "old goat" he was quick witted and beaming ear to ear with a smile. My condolences to everyone.

I'd like to pass along my condolences to Rosie and the family. I have great memories of visiting Alan and Rosie on the farm with my dad Ron when I was growing up and all the cool things I learned. Alan was always working on something and I was always fascinated with watching (and sometimes helping) him get various machines and implements back to working order. My thoughts are with Alan's family in this difficult time.

My deepest sympathies to Rosie and family. Alan was such a kind hearted, welcoming, & gentle soul! His smile lit up the room and his love for his family was evident in everything he did. Whether it be working cattle, dinner at the farm, projects in his workshop or breakfast at Joyces, he was always a joy to be around for so many! When he’d chuckle and call out my kids’ names their faces would light up as they ran to him with open arms. He was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, brother, but such an amazing Grandpa! We’re all blessed to have known him!

RIP Alan, you have earned those wings. I am tearing up as I read these memorials. Alan, your family was always so fun for our family visits when growing up! We always had so much fun! Our family with 10 kids was always welcomed with open arms and lots of food!! We visited with Rosie and you at Trinity eye clinic not to many months ago. Little Dayne, our grandson was with; when we left, my AlLen says....now Dayne, there a real cowboy!! I can see you now, visiting with mom and dad, telling your tales and spreading your laughter all over heaven. May God bless your loved ones as they grieve their great loss
