Loren was born in Dickinson, ND on January 4, 1950 to Ben and Marie Fredericks. The family resided in Mandaree, ND, where he was raised on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation. After Loren attended Mandaree Grade School, the family moved to the ranch in Twin Buttes, where he graduated from Halliday High School.
Loren was a Champion Bareback and Bull Rider, and represented his rodeo team in Topeka, KS. Loren loved life, and he wanted to be the best at whatever he did. He was a man of many talents. He had his own country music band, he was a saddle maker, leather craftsman, and a horse farrier. He would tame the broncos and then ride them for his dad. His dad and mother left him the ranch, where he raised his own family; his son, Benie Dale Fredericks, and his twin daughters, Chris Ann Fredericks, and Crystal Marie Fredericks.
Loren was loyal to his family and would protect those he loved. He had the voice of an angel. He was a natural musician, and loved to jam out with his band. Loren had a magnetic personality that made people want to be around him, and a laugh and smile that could brighten anyone’s day.
