Place of Birth: Pleasant Valley Township, ND

Grace Margaret (Kleven) Syverson was born to Mathias and Gina Kleven on November 25, 1923 along with her twin sister, Gladys Gibbs in Pleasant Valley Township, Williams County in North Dakota. She graduated high school in Tioga and then worked as a maid for awhile.

She married Roy E. Syverson on November 1, 1941 and they had four boys; Terry, Earl, Steve and Robert.

Grace held several positions following her marriage including clerking at the local grocery store, running a snack bar at the bowling alley with Christine (Mac) Monagle. Back then she was known for her delicious caramel rolls. Later on she worked for Robert Mowdy as his secretary and later worked for Air Heaters for Mr. Muckelrath.

She was very involved in the National and Local WMF. Grace’s main priority was church, she loved everything about it from teaching Sunday School to helping in the kitchen, plus other activities too numerous to share. She was a member of the Senior Citizens where she served as President for several years.

Grace loved playing cards, gardening and spending time with her friends and family. She loved and lived life to the fullest.

Grace is survived by her sons, Terry O. (Lilo) Syverson and children, Doris, Kristine and Terry Jr.; Earl D. (Susan) Syverson and children, Melissa, Rory and Jennifer; Steve Syverson and children, Desiray, Stephanie and Christopher; Robert L. (Joni) Syverson and children, Ryan and Lynsay; and numerous great grandchildren. She loved them all so very much.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and numerous friends and family that she loved.

Sending my sympathy to Grace's family. She was a lovely lady who taught so many of us at some point at Zion Lutheran church. She also made the best lefse! Her family and friends are in my thoughts and prayers.

I adored this lady, and it was always my pleasure to meet up with her at a store. I always said I wanted her spirit, her love of life, her patience and sense of humor. She would simply say love God and love life ! A monument could be made for her good deeds, kindness, and caring. You will live on in all who were blessed to know you, may you be in Heaven with all of the loved ones you so missed and making them laugh again with you ! Phenominal lady......always a LADY.

Grace was a very sweet and energetic Lady . I always enjoyed going to her farm and delivering her ups packages and she always made sure to give me some of her delicious flatbread or goodies and even if it was storming she would be heading into Tioga to work at the church or senior citizens or visit a friend, Grace was a true blessing to many of us. Your all in our prayers

My grandfather had 7 sisters and brothers born in Norway. My grandfather Ola Brøste stayed in Norway, but Mathias, Grace’s father, was one og the five who left for USA. I met Grace on her visits in Romsdalen, and in 2017 I was lucky to visit her in Tioga. She was a marvellous lady. I send greeting from Broste family in Romsdalen Norway.

Sympathy
As a young girl, Grace was an inspiration to me. She always showed me love and kindness!!! She was also my prayer sister at church several times. After I graduated high school Tioga was the last place on earth I ever wanted to be again. I have thought of Grace many many many times over the years and have kept up with her though family I still have there. Grace was a spectacular woman and she is going to be missed dearly by everyone who knew her!!! I will keep Grace’s family in my thoughts and prayers I am very sorry for your loss!!!
