Betty was born on February 2, 1929 in Dry Fork Township, Williams County, to Asbjorn and Gertie (Strom) Haustveit. She was raised in Tioga and graduated from Tioga High School with the class of 1947.
On October 9, 1949, she was united in marriage to Ted Blikre. They lived most of their lives in Tioga where they raised their two daughters along with Ted’s brother Dean, from the age of 11 following the death of their parents. They also lived in Williston, Grenora and Kenmare.
Betty was a wonderful homemaker. She attended Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the Ladies Aid, taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. Betty enjoyed yard work, gardening, sewing and Senior Citizens. She was a loving mother, a caring grandmother and a special great-grandmother.
Betty is survived by her daughters; Sandy (Craig) Nansen and Connie (Jack) Seibel; grandchildren, Kim (Dustin) Bergrude, Ryan (Melissa) Nansen, Kelli (Paul) Mattern, and Taylor Seibel; great-grandchildren, Madison, Makenna and Kiyah Bergrude, Makensie (Greyson) Stedman, Clay and Tyson Mattern, Aubrie and Noah Nansen; brothers-in-law, Kent (Sandi) Blikre, Dean (Karla) Blikre, LaVerne Johnson; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Blikre, Carol Tande and Fern (Haustveit) Schaefer.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; infant daughter, Beverly Jean; sister, Edith (Vernal) Arnstad; brother, Ernie Haustveit; sister-in-law, Lila Johnson; brothers-in-law, Claire (LaVonne) Blikre, Roy (Mary Lou) Blikre, Curt Tande, Keith Blikre and Loren Blikre.
