Merwin Lee Wieler
March 8, 1955 - January 19, 2019

Place of Birth: Cavalier, ND
Residence: Williston, ND
Age: 63

Merwin Lee Wieler, of Williston, ND, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the age of 63.

Merwin was born to Henry and Mary (Janzen) Wieler on March 8, 1955. He was the fourth of six children raised on the family farm outside of Walhalla. As a young man he liked to go hunting and snowmobiling with friends. He completed his high school education in Walhalla, graduating in 1973. Right after graduation, he went to work for Mayo Construction, of Cavalier. Ready for a change of pace, he moved to Williston, ND and began a job with the Hardy Salt Company. Feeling the pull to the oil fields of western North Dakota, he began working there. During this time, he met and married Judi Verplancke. After his job inspecting pipe in the oil fields, he found a job he truly loved - driving truck! His trips, hauling pipe for Varco, often led him to Casper, Wyoming. Later in their life together, Merwin and Judi had a mini dachshund come into their life, Sadie - a joy to them both! In 2013 Judi, the love of his life, passed away. He worked for a few more years before retiring from the road in 2016.

Merwin loved canning the produce he was blessed with and then sharing it with others. Hunting was also a life long passion. His biggest passion, though, was that others would come to know the saving grace of his Lord Jesus Christ. He wanted everyone to have the same hope he did!

Merwin is survived by his stepdaughter, Jodi Davis of Casper,WY; stepsons, Shawn ( Judy) Verplancke of Buffalo, WY and Jimmy (Jodi ) Verplancke of Buffalo, WY; brother, Reginald (Leona) Wieler of Cavalier,ND; sisters, Rosanne (Keith) Sandland of Roseau, MN, Norma (Doyle) Grindahl of Grafton,ND, Carol (Roy) Enns of Steinbach, Manitoba and Marilyn (Duane) Moen of Upham, ND; 17 nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and grandchildren, Jerayah, Jaliegah and Jevon Jr., Cade, Zane, Cassie, Logan, Taya, Tanner and Sierra.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mary Wieler; and wife Judi (Verplancke) Wieler.

It was a total shock to find out Merwin passed away. It wasnt that long ago my sister, Jane Syth Wegley and I talked to him. He was once our brother-in-law. Well he's with Judi in heaven now. He was so nice and easy to talk too. He will be missed. Prayers to his family.
