On December 20, 2018, Joyce Marilyn Halseth died peacefully and was called home to the Lord. Her beautiful smile and joyful presence will be deeply missed.

Joyce was born June 3, 1936 to Paul and Alma Severson. She was the oldest of 4, with younger siblings Jeanne, Jerome, and Jim. In 1954, she graduated from McVille High School. She then attended MayVille State College to obtain a Certificate of Business and met Ernest Halseth while he attended UND. Joyce,along with her best friend Arlyss, moved out west to Williston where she worked at the ASCS office and Good Samaritan Hospital. Ernest and Joyce eventually joined in marriage on June 7, 1957. She joyfully took on the role of teacher’s wife, mother and homemaker. Ernest and Joyce had 5 children and lived in Epping, Wheelock, Minot, and Westby and finally settled in Ray, ND in 1974 where her role changed to farmer’s wife. Later, as her children were mostly grown, she worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide for various homes and the Tioga Medical Center. Joyce was a member of Ray Lutheran church where she was on the board and served as President and Secretary of the Church Women.

Joyce loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids, and finally great-grandkids. She brought joy and fun to all family gatherings with great food and a love of playing games. She loved to play cards, read, visit with friends and family, and in the summer she would sit on her front step where she loved to visit with friends and neighbors.

Joyce is survived by her loving husband, Ernest Halseth; her kids: David Halseth of Fargo, Dean and (Robin) Halseth of Bismarck, Jill and (Doug) Perdue of Ray, John Halseth of Ray, Jan and (Gene) Munyon of Ray; her grandkids: Jennifer and (Joey)LaFave of Bismarck, Shane Halseth of Seattle, Mitch Halseth of Seattle, Clint Perdue and (Mariah Goetz) of Ray, Ryan Perdue of Ray, and Rylee Gonzalez and (Cody
Schroeder) of Sidney; her great-grandkids: Andie and Owen LaFave (Bismarck) and CamrynPerdue (Ray); her brothers: Jerome Severson (Michigan, ND) and Jim Severson (Las Vegas, NV).

She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Alma Severson and her sister, Jeanne Polasky and infant brother.
