Jerome Garman
June 17, 1946 - December 18, 2017

Residence: Watford City, ND

Jerome A. Garman, 71, of Watford City, passed away on December 18, 2017, surrounded by his family at Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND. His funeral arrangements are with Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Watford City.

Jerry was born June 17, 1946 in Rugby, ND to Marion (Bohl) and Mathias Garman. He was raised and educated in the Balta, Drake and Anamoose area, the youngest of 11. After graduating High School, he entered into the service and served in Vietnam from 1967-1968. He married Carol Schell on April 15, 1968 at Fulda Church near Rugby. Unsure of where to settle down, they took a trip to Watford City to visit Larry and Judy Schell where he ended up accepting a job in the oil field. A year later, he accepted a job with Texaco where he worked until 1994. From 1998-2011 he worked as a consultant for North Plains Consulting. Jerry was very proud of the work he did and loved the people he met along the way.

Jerry was known as a jokester. He loved a good laugh and had a very witty sense of humor. He was known for his deep intimidating voice, but once you got to know him, it was discovered he was just a big teddy bear. Jerry enjoyed going to the lake with family and friends and watching them enjoy his toys. He loved watching the birds and squirrels outside the house, even making friends with some of them. In his past time he enjoyed woodwork, watching the Vikings, and figuring out his word puzzles in the paper. He was very proud of his kids and grandkids. He especially enjoyed the holidays when all the family would be together. This was a time for deep conversation about life, politics, work, and religion over a drink or two. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. We love you Dad!

Jerry was survived by his wife of 49 years, Carol; sons, Shawn (Jennie) Garman, and Paul Garman; daughters, Brenda (Jared) Erie, Starla (Ted) Pagano, and Gina (Mike) King; fifteen grandchildren , four great grandchildren, six sisters and one brother and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Mathias Garman, three brothers, Daniel, Andrew and Victor and his beloved grandson Tanner Garman.

Dear Garman family,
So sorry for your recent loss. As the Bible says, death is surely an enemy. But as 1 Corinthians chapter 15 and verse 26 promises, one day soon, "The last enemy to be destroyed is death." Imagine a world with no death! And once death is gone, the promised resurrection! John 5:28-29 To be further comforted, please visit JW.org and search 'resurrection'. My prayers are with you.

To the family and friends,
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one.
After God cleans off the earth of all the wicked people, then he will bring our loved ones back to life. At that time there will be no more sickness, old age or death. Please read Psalm 37:9-11, 29 and Isaiah 33:24. Revelation 21:4 says: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."
If you would like a free Bible study to bring you comfort, you may ask any one of Jehovah's Witnesses to make arrangements.
