Blanche Galusha, 90, of Williston, ND, passed away into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Bethel Lutheran Home Long Term Care in Williston with family at her side. Her funeral arrangements are with Fulkerson Stevenson Funeral Home of Williston.
Blanche was born March 18th, 1927 to Frank and Margret Deserly in Medicine Lake, Montana and spent most of her younger years living in Medicine Lake, MT, Trenton, ND and the family ranch in New Town, ND with her parents and 8 siblings. She attended school at the Elbowood School near New Town.
On April 10, 1948, Blanche was united in marriage to Sidney Wayne Galusha and they made their home in Minot, Makoti, Plaza and Williston, ND. Blanche and Wayne raised four children. In later years when their children were grown, Blanche and Wayne moved to Rapelje, MT where her husband Wayne passed away in 1985. Blanche then returned to Williston to make her home.
During her life, Blanche worked in various places she lived including working at a Catholic Seminary in Minneapolis and especially liked working as a nurse's aide in various places being able to help others. Through the years, Blanche enjoyed spending time with her family members. For the past twenty years, Blanche also shared her life with her companion James Jorgenson (deceased 7/2017)
Blanche was an avid fishermen and she loved dancing especially to Blue Grass and Country music. In her earlier years, she enjoyed riding horses. Blanche’s favorite pastime was playing bingo and going to the casino. But above all, Blanche cherished spending time with her family, especially family gatherings and outings.
Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Margaret Deserly; her husband, Sidney Wayne Galusha; her son, Jerry Galusha; her great grandson, Christian Sorenson and seven siblings, Dorothy (Weiss), Victoria (Walters), Alma (Kroll), Baby Grace Deserly, Russell, Vernon and Edward Deserly.
She is survived by her children Jack (Diane) Galusha of Williston, ND, Colette (David) Sorenson of Williston, ND, Cheryl Sommer of Stevensville, MT; brother, Clarence (Lois) Deserly of Renwick, Iowa; sister-in-law, Joyce Herdt of Minot, ND and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Blanche lived a very long and full life and will be missed by so many.
